National Inclusion Day is on October 10th, and it’s an opportunity for all of us to reflect the significance of inclusion. This day is all about embracing, supporting, and celebrating the diverse differences in our daily lives. In self-direction, inclusion and community engagement play a vital role in achieving a self-determined life. Those who practice self-direction often experience a boost in motivation, enhanced quality of life, and a stronger sense of belonging in their communities. At Lakeland Care, we empower our members to take charge of their services and supports, facilitating greater community inclusion. Our mission aligns perfectly with the spirit of National Inclusion Day, making this day even more special to us. Join us in supporting the 15th Annual Down Syndrome Awareness Walk on October 5, 2024. Tina Duehring, a dedicated employee of Lakeland Care, has participated in this event since it began, inspired by her son Cameron. Tina and her family and friends are proud to be part of the Down Syndrome Awareness Walk because it means a lot to them. Last year, Tina’s son Cameron was a top donor and earned a spot on the event's billboard! This year, Lakeland Care is proud to sponsor this meaningful event. The walk raises awareness and fosters inclusivity for individuals with Down syndrome. The event features family-friendly activities, opportunities to connect with others, and a chance to make a positive impact in our community. Every October, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) leads the nation's observance of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). This year marks the 79th observance of NDEAM and the 34th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Both milestones commemorated and centered on the theme “Access to Good Jobs for All.” Lakeland Care is a proud supporter of the unique strengths each person brings to the workforce and we are happy to celebrate this year’s NDEAM. #NDEAM #Lakelandcare https://lnkd.in/gA_fUjPy
