Today, we celebrate Imagine a Day Without Water! At Landforce, we understand the importance of clean, accessible water, and recognize the strides made in recent years to make this a reality. Thanks to historic federal investments through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, stronger incentives for climate-resilient and sustainable water systems, and a renewed focus on equitable access are underway. But our work is far from over, which is where our community comes in. Every one of us has a role to play in safeguarding our nation’s water future. This year, we invite you to consider: *What's your drop in the bucket?* Together, as we raise our voices, we create a tidal wave of change that strengthens our communities and honors the life-sustaining power of water. Want to learn more or get involved? Visit the US Water Alliance page to find out how you can make a difference or use the link below. Let’s keep our waters flowing for generations to come! https://lnkd.in/g_GWef6Z #ImagineADayWithoutWater #SustainableWater #CleanWater #WaterIsLife #WaterForAll #WaterAwareness #ClimateResilience #BipartisanInfrastructure

It’s Wood Reuse Wednesday! Last time, we shared the process for milling wood. Now, let’s dive deep into what happens inside the kiln. It’s Land Stewardship Tuesday! Last week, the Landforce crew rolled up their sleeves for an exciting project funded by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). We’re working to protect a native restoration planting at the 57th St. Playground in Lawrenceville that Tree Pittsburgh completed back in spring 2018, which has become overrun by invasive plants. Our Cohort 2 Crew Members have been hard at work: brushing back Knotweed, removing Oriental Bittersweet, removing protective caging that was girdling some Arbor Vitae trees, and pruning and staking them for healthier growth. Up next, we’ll be mulching around a mix of beautiful trees—including White Pines, Tulip Poplars, and Paw Paw trees. As these trees mature, they’ll create a visual and sound barrier between the playground and nearby railroad tracks and warehouses, enhancing air quality and supporting local wildlife habitat. #LandStewardship #NativePlantRestoration #InvasiveSpecies #Lawrenceville #TreePittsburgh #EnvironmentalConservation #UrbanForestry #SustainableLandscaping #CommunityEngagement

Today, we share in honoring Indigenous peoples’ cultures and histories across the United States. Indigenous Peoples Day is a time to reflect on the resilience of Native communities and recognize the vital role they have always and continue to play in shaping our nation. From sacred dances and traditional ceremonies to powerful advocacy for land and environmental justice, this day celebrates joy and remembrance. It is also a solemn reminder of America’s complex past, of the profound injustices Indigenous peoples faced, as their lands and lives were taken. As more cities and states recognize this day, we share the importance of reclaiming and honoring Indigenous histories. This is an opportunity to educate ourselves, amplify Indigenous voices, and celebrate their enduring legacy. #IndigenousPeoplesDay #HonorIndigenous #CulturalAwareness #IndigenousRights #LandJustice #IndigenousHistory

We were honored to speak at last week's Pittsburgh Workforce Hub Good Jobs event, sharing how federal funding has impacted our journey from our founding as a small but mighty organization to our recent selection as one of the nation's first EPA Community Change awardees. Thank you to US DOL Acting Secretary Julie Su, US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Deputy Associate Administrator Villa, Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey, and Partner4Work Pittsburgh for highlighting our work. We are thrilled to be a part of the historic investment in the Greater Pittsburgh Region and excited to move the needle on what is possible for workforce development in our City. Special congratulations to Catalyst Connection for their Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO) grant. #PittsburghWorkforce #GoodJobs #CommunityChange #EPA #EconomicDevelopment #CatalystConnection #WANTO

Happy World Mental Health Day! Today is a vital reminder to prioritize your mental well-being. Remember, seeking help—whether from a doctor or a therapist—is a sign of strength, not weakness. There are many ways you can take action. Take this time to reflect on your mental health and check on those around you. Reach out to friends and family and check on those around you; your connection can make a real difference. Mental health is a fundamental human right. It’s important that we all work together to raise awareness and advocate for accessible, quality care for all. Currently, one in eight people worldwide faces mental health challenges, which can affect their overall well-being and integration into society. Even more tragically, many still encounter discrimination, stigma, and barriers to care. If you or someone you know needs assistance finding resources, please visit HelpGuide.org or use the link below. You’re not alone in this journey! https://lnkd.in/ex_G5HcS #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthAwareness #MentalHealthMatters #SelfCare #MentalHealthSupport #MentalHealthAdvocacy

It’s Workforce Wednesday(well a day later lol)! Let’s take a moment to revisit Cohort 2’s Mock Interview Day! These sessions are just one of the many opportunities during Landforce’s 8-week training program, designed to equip our trainees with essential job-ready skills. In preparation for interviews, each Cohort goes with the Workforce Development Team on a shopping trip to select interview-ready clothing, having apparel to match the mindset is key to confidence in an interview setting. Mock interviews were conducted by an esteemed group of our workforce partners, including: * Robin Young , Director of Operations, Riverside Center for Innovation * Ricardo J. Williams, M.S., Workforce Development/Youth Manager, City of Pittsburgh * Vanetta Brown, Human Resource Assistant, Macedonia Family & Community Enrichment Center (FACE) * Dr. Melody Carter-Frye, Chief Project Management Officer, The Forbes Funds * Charonda Hill, Transformational Strategist, Hilled LLC This experience allowed trainees to engage with multiple interviewers and receive invaluable real-time feedback. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who played a role in making this day a resounding success! #WorkforceWednesday #JobReadySkills #MockInterview #WorkforceDevelopment #CareerTraining #InterviewPreparation #ProfessionalDevelopment
