PROTECTED: 242 acres in Grundy County The Land Trust for Tennessee recently worked with a landowner in Grundy County, 35 miles from Chattanooga, to protect his 242 acres of forestland. "I had a front row seat for that process of healing this land after it had been clearcut for years before I acquired it. It has become a beautiful/thriving forest, that provides habitat for numerous species of wildlife. The transformation became so complete, that the land became known as "Another World". I was fortunate enough to build a house and live here in 2017," said landowner Dave. "I have come to think of myself as a steward of "Another World", rather than strictly the owner. The most visible ambassadors between "Another World's" steward and the natural environment are the Summer and Scarlet Tanagers that fly in from Mexico, Central America and South America every year. Protecting them was a key reason for creating this conservation easement." Interested in protecting your land? Head to: https://bit.ly/47XmkAq #LandTrustTN #Conservation #Tennessee #GrundyCounty

This past Saturday, we premiered something special at our signature fundraising event, Once in a Blue Moon. Our new short film, Be a Part of the Story, created by filmmaker Andrew Kornylak, brings The Land Trust for Tennessee’s journey to life, honors our founder Governor Phil Bredesen, and highlights our innovative, data-driven vision for the future. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this project possible. We can’t wait to share this story with you all—our incredible Land Trust community! #LandTrustTN #OnceinaBlueMoon #Conservation #ConservationTennessee https://lnkd.in/grJrDiwS

In 2015, The Land Trust for Tennessee partnered with the Gilbert family to facilitate the sale of their 568 acres to Metro Nashville. This land was added to Beaman Park. The Land Trust has also worked with 8 private landowners to conserve 450 acres in the Beaman Park to Bells Bend Conservation Corridor: https://bit.ly/4fhm03k

25 Projects for 25 Years! Buford Jennings was raised on a cattle farm in the heart of Lincoln County, Tennessee. His family had been in the area since the early 1800s. Growing up, Jennings didn’t have electricity or telephones and went to school in a one-room schoolhouse. Though life was tough, Jennings’ parents persevered, instilling in him a deep connection to the land. When he went away to college, he was eager to leave farm life behind, but over time, he found himself drawn back to it. As time went on, he was motivated to get back to raising cattle and started to enjoy the work. In 2015, he decided to protect 100 acres of Rock Creek Farm, with a conservation easement with The Land Trust for Tennessee. “A lot of the property around Lynchburg is being divided and bought up,” he explained. It’s losing its local charm. I’m thankful for what The Land Trust is doing to help protect it.” Read the full story: https://bit.ly/3zYLLGW #LandTrustTN #25for25 #LynchburgTN #Lynchburg #MooreCounty #LandProtection #Conservation

We had so much fun at our October Community Day this past weekend! We were lucky to be joined by Turnip Green Creative Reuse, who led us in making nature wands and birdhouses out of repurposed materials. We'll see you next month on November 9th for our last Community Day of the season, where the founders of High Garden Tea will lead a medicinal herb hike along our Nature Trail to show what amazing goodness the land holds if we just give it space to grow it. We will serve complimentary hot High Garden Tea as well Register for November Community Day for free: https://bit.ly/3AcZCt3 #LandTrustTN #CommunityEvent #Community #GlenLevenFarm #Reuse
