Founded in 1989 Latinos Unidos of Iowa is a 501c3 founded to provide college scholarships for Latinos in Iowa.
About us
Latinos Unidos of Iowa, Incorporated, is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit, non-partisan, and all volunteer organization. The mission provides educational support to Latinos studying at Iowa Colleges and Universities. Over the years, the organization's mission has changed to reflect the greater diversity of Latinos in Iowa and the need for community building and educational access. Our focus is on education and to continue building on our diverse culture. Founded in 1989 Latinos Unidos of Iowa (formally Viva Mexico) has provided hundreds of academic scholarships to Latino students of all ages. The Latino Students come from all over the world; Spain, Mexico, Peru, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Colombia, etc. To achieve our mission and address the needs of Latino students in Iowa, Latinos Unidos of Iowa raised funds from private contributors, foundations, and fundraisers. We work with colleges to provide matching grants to assist the Latinos Unidos of Iowa Recipient. Latinos Unidos of Iowa cultivates new leaders, supports cultural and community based organizations to improve the quality of life for all Iowans. Join us for our second Suenos y Futuros Scholarship Fundraiser on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. The audience will enjoy the live entertainment from RJ Guitarras and a silent auction featuring original Artwork by Anthony Arroyo and original Artwork from local Latino artist Seso Marentes; in addition, 2 Argentinean Watercolor paintings donated by Olivencia Family. Unforgettable food will be served and refreshments. Our Master of ceremony is Fabiola Schirrmeister, and Keynote speaker Sandra Kromming, a graduate of University of Iowa and Drake Law School. Also a Latinos Unidos of Iowa scholarship recipient. TICKETS ARE NOW AVAILABLE! PAYPAL AND ON QRC ON THE FLYER.
