For our latest "Spotlight" series at Central Electric Power Cooperative, we are thrilled to highlight Central’s Board Member, Matthew Stanley. Matt joined Laurens Electric Cooperative in 1999 as Staff Accountant and has served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since 2001. His journey since has been nothing short of inspiring. In January, his commitment and vision for serving our communities, especially those in sparsely populated areas, led to his promotion as President and CEO. Laurens Electric is a member-owned electric cooperative in Upstate South Carolina serving more than 63,000 consumers across Laurens, Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, Abbeville, Newberry, and Union counties. Under Matt's leadership, the co-op continues to thrive while focusing on sustainable and innovative energy solutions, including significant strides in solar energy and electric vehicle readiness, and community programs such as Cooperative Caring and the Pay It Forward initiative. In addition to steering Laurens Electric, Matt has contributed his expertise to the wider community, serving on the Board of Directors at 1ST COOPERATIVE FEDERAL CREDIT UNION and the Fountain Inn Chamber of Commerce. His educational background, a BS in Accounting and Finance from the University of Kentucky, complements his role, fostering financial health and strategic growth for the cooperative.
