Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity (LCD)

LCD is now accepting applications for the 2024 Student Mentor Program! Good morning! Last Friday I had the pleasure of meeting the honorable Judge Bolden and two of his federal clerks during the Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity (LCD) visit to the Richard C. Lee United States Courthouse in New Haven, CT. It was truly amazing hearing his journey and words of wisdom. I am so excited to see what more is to come this summer. What an outstanding experience!

Interns help fuel the pipeline to careers in #PublicService. On Friday, U.S. Attorney Avery and our Assistant U.S. Attorneys joined our agency partners at the FBI New Haven, DEA New England, ATF Boston, and the US Marshals Service to host our USAO Law Student Interns and college interns from the Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity (LCD) Summer Pipeline program for an annual career forum. Happy Sunday Linkedin Family! Another great outing with Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity (LCD). Friday, I was delighted to visit the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Connecticut and Department of Justice! It was so wonderful to hear from all of the attorneys and professionals. And special thank you to U.S. Attorney Avery for having us!

I'm happy to share that I have just concluded the LCD Summer Internship Program, culminating in an exhilarating mock trial experience. During my first ever mock trail, I had the privilege of serving on the defense team, and I am thrilled to announce that we won our case! I am deeply grateful to the Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity (LCD) for this incredible opportunity. A heartfelt thank you to Joelle A. Murchison for her exceptional facilitation of the program, and to Judge Kevin Doyle for presiding over our mock trial today. Your insights and guidance were invaluable. I also want to extend my sincere thanks to Ryan O'Neill, our dedicated defense team coach, for his unwavering support and mentorship throughout the summer. To my amazing mock trial teammates and everyone who contributed to making this program possible, thank you for your collaboration, encouragement, and hard work. This experience has not only enhanced my understanding of the legal profession but also strengthened my resolve to pursue a career in law. I look forward to applying the knowledge and skills I've gained during this program as I continue on my journey. Thank you again to LCD and everyone involved for making this a truly transformative experience.

We are always excited when students with a passion for justice share their talents with our staff and clients! At the Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity (LCD) mock trial event last week, Senior Assistant Public Defender John Cizik celebrated with past and present undergraduate interns Mel Shkrepi and Zanaya Gordon as they completed the LCD 2024 Summer Internship Pipeline Program. We wish all the interns much success in the future and hope our paths cross again. #CTPublicDefenders #PublicDefenders

The Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity thanks our best practices panelists Bill Aseltyne , Tanya Bovée, Joshua Goodbaum and Michelle Dumas Keuler for sharing their insightful perspectives at the Connecticut Bar Association’s Legal Conference in Hartford on Monday, June 10.
