Celebrating Día de Los Muertos: Honoring Our Ancestors As we approach Día de Los Muertos, celebrated from October 31st to November 2nd, we come together to honor and remember our loved ones who have passed. This cherished tradition is a profound part of our Hispanic heritage, allowing us to celebrate the lives of those who came before us. Día de Los Muertos is not a time of mourning, but rather a joyous celebration of life and memory. Altars, or ofrendas, are adorned with marigolds, candles, photos, and favorite foods of the departed, creating a vibrant and heartfelt tribute. These days are filled with love, laughter, and the comforting belief that our ancestors return to be with us in spirit. This celebration is a reminder of the enduring bonds of family and community. It teaches us to cherish our roots, embrace our heritage, and honor the legacies that have shaped us. As we gather to celebrate, let’s share stories, remember the wisdom and warmth of our ancestors, and find joy in the continuity of life. May this Día de Los Muertos fill your heart with peace and gratitude. Together, let’s keep our traditions alive and honor those who have paved the way for us. Warm regards, Lorna Delgado LEAD MarComm Director

I love being part of organizations that contribute to the creation of an equitable society🫶🏼 EmpowHer Institute vision, is to provide every girl the opportunities and resources they each uniquely need to embrace the power of their voice to make informed decisions about their body and future; and break generational cycles of poverty. Congratulations to Veronica V., Jemele Hill, and KiKi Shepard for receiving the 2024 Betty LaMarr Pathmaker award from EmpowHer Institute!👏 They shared inspiring stories about their journeys towards creating a lasting impact for future generations. Veronica V., an advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) Philanthropy Department, touched hearts as she shared her powerful story of being a mother of 4 young girls and the loss of a child much too young. Veronica continues to inspire her daughters to pursue their dreams, embodying the core values of community service. Bravo to these remarkable women! 🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! 🎀 At LEAD, we recognize the importance of raising awareness about breast cancer, especially within the Hispanic community. This month, let's unite to educate ourselves, support one another, and break the stigma surrounding this disease. Did you know? While breast cancer is often seen as a women’s issue, men can also be affected. About 1 in 833 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Awareness is crucial for everyone! Here are some essential points to remember: Early Detection Saves Lives: Regular screenings and self-exams can help catch breast cancer early when it’s most treatable. Encourage your loved ones to schedule their mammograms and perform self-checks. Know the Risks: Factors like genetics, family history, and lifestyle choices can impact your risk. Understanding these can empower you to take proactive steps. Support Each Other: Whether you’re a survivor, a supporter, or someone affected by breast cancer, it’s vital to share your experiences and create a community of strength and resilience. Educate and Advocate: Share information within your networks. Let’s ensure everyone knows the signs and symptoms of breast cancer. Join us in raising awareness this October! Together, we can make a difference and support those affected by breast cancer. Let’s stand united in the fight against this disease. 💪💖 #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #LEAD #HispanicCommunity #MenCanGetBreastCancer #SupportAndEducate Lorna Delgado Testing Administration, Sr Specialist LEAD MarComm Director Human Resources |Talent Acquisition T. 626-302-0140 | 626-649-9361

🌟 Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month 🌟 As we gathered to honor Hispanic Heritage Month, we reflected on the beauty of our diverse Latino cultures and the unity that binds us. Our recent LEAD Hispanic Heritage celebration, “Celebrando Éxitos y Esfuerzos de Nuestra Cultura,” was a heartfelt gathering that showcased our rich heritage through inspiring stories, vibrant performances, and delicious culinary delights. A special thank you to @lascolibri for the incredible live entertainment that brought our celebration to life! We were privileged to hear from Dania Echeverri, VP of Cross-Cultural Marketing at CAA, whose journey from humble beginnings to executive leadership inspired us all. Her insights on the transformative power of saying “No” resonated deeply and encouraged us to pursue greater opportunities. Our career panel discussion with senior leaders—Lydia Roman, Michael Williams, and Ricardo Montano—moderated by Janelle Clark also enlightened us. Their reflections on how family values shaped their career paths reminded us of the strength we derive from our shared experiences. Celebrating one another’s achievements empowers us to strive for our goals with renewed vigor. We are reminded of the profound impact Hispanic and Latino Americans have on our society, advocating for equity and advancement. Let us continue to celebrate the contributions and cultures that enrich our communities. Thank you to the fantastic culture committee for their dedication and hard work in making this event possible. Special shout-outs to @Joseph Tapia for the beautiful event artwork, @Ernesto Sanchez for creating the touching cultural appreciation video, and @Andrew Lee for capturing the moments through your excellent photography. Appreciation to @Marcela Zapien-Teran for the stunning centerpieces crafted from her own garden, @Veronica Diaz-Valverde for her tireless efforts as the speaker point of contact, and @Jennifer Gutierrez for her stellar event coordination. A special thank you to our Director of Cultural Events, @Ruby Rose Yepez, for her leadership and exceptional execution of her vision for the event. We are grateful for everyone who made this celebration a success! Here’s to honoring our heritage and embracing the future together! 🎉 see less
