Two our our incredible former Lead for North Carolina at the UNC School of Government Fellows now working at the NC League of Municipalities! We are so proud of Ruby and Ania!
It was a pleasure meeting some our NC League of Municipalities members in Eastern North Carolina yesterday at the NC Rural Center’s listening tour stop in Whiteville. Mayor Terry Mann, thank you for welcoming us to your beautiful city! It was also great meeting Chadbourn Town Manager Jason Robinson. I look forward to coming to Chadbourn’s strawberry festival next spring. Nothing can be finer than to be in [North] Carolina ♥️.

Such a great opportunity to attend the North Carolina Economic Development Association Fall 2024 Conference (with the best host site supervisor Tiffany Henry) in Greensboro, NC. The focus of the conference was support, recovery, and reliance for WNC in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. I am forever amazed and grateful for the enormous support for WNC from all of NC and beyond. #mountainstrong #nceda

Twice a year, the Development Finance Initiative teaches a course pairing interdisciplinary teams of UNC graduate students with local government clients to learn what it takes to transform vacant buildings in small-town North Carolina into occupied, vibrant spaces. The program is accepting applications for project ideas through December 12. Submit project ideas at: https://lnkd.in/g_mDAX7S.

We see one of our amazing Lead for North Carolina at the UNC School of Government alumna, Ania Hairston!
Thank you NC BEMO for the opportunity to share updates on the NC League of Municipalities’ American Rescue Plan services at your quarterly business meeting. The cherry on the top was connecting with my fellow University of North Carolina at Greensboro and North Carolina Central University alums—Mayor Jessica Day of Knightdale, Mayor Glenn York of Zebulon, and NCLM Immediate Past President Commissioner William Harris of Fuquay Varina. Your leadership and continued service to NC residents makes our state great! #eagleprideamplified #spartanpride

Last week, friends, family, and colleagues of Jennifer "Jen" Willis gathered to celebrate her remarkable public service career. Willis, associate dean for advancement and partnerships, joined the School in 2015 and played an instrumental role in securing important funding to enable the School to carry out its mission. She led a team that raised more than $60 million for the School as part of the Campaign for Carolina. Her career also spaned into local government and public higher education. At the reception, UNC System President Peter Hans presented Willis with the state's highest civilian honor, the Order of the Long Leaf Pine. Please join the School in congratulating Jen Willis and wishing her the best in retirement!

#uncmpa hosted a fabulous panel focused on careers in local government moderated by alumna Heather Drennan. We hear over and over again that local government is where you can see the true impact of your work efforts, but today, we felt it. Thank you for your leadership, service, and mentorship to our students. They are doing some truly inspiring and important work. Jenifer Della Valle David Schexnayder Eric L.
