    It was a great kick-off with the new Executive Master in Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership (#emdiel) ESCP Business School cohort. Meeting some ambitious entrepreneurial leaders looking to add some new tools to their leadership toolbox, I shared some of my insights on what’s needed today to be a successful leader and to adopt the entrepreneur mindset: 1️⃣ Be passionate about your industry.  You really have to love it, continuously learn, and share your knowledge often with your teams. 2️⃣ Know your strengths and find others to compensate for your weaknesses. 3️⃣ Build relationships. Stay curious and always have 1 ask (even if the person can’t help, ask them to make you an introduction to someone else who can help.  Always ask how you can help them.) 4️⃣ Keep experimenting and learn from asking. Stop doing desk research and go out into the market/workplace and ask questions. Formulate your assumptions, synthesize your findings, and create strategies and products that work.  Keep on giving and the world will give back to you 🚀 #entrepreneurialleadership #neverstoplearning #executivemasters #leadershipdevelopment

New research by the EY and Saïd Business School, University of Oxford found that: 👉 75% of leaders and workers believe that emotional support is often missed during planning and executing a major transformation. 👉 72% of leaders admit they find it difficult to spot warning signals due to the pressure to “get to green” 👉 32% of transformation team members were concerned that they would not be taken seriously if they flagged an issue to leadership.     🤯 We couldn’t agree more with scaling expert Rob Bier about the confusion and hype between ‘𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠’ and ‘𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠’. Growing means — more revenue, customers, staff etc. Scaling means 'growing something while preserving its essential qualities'. With a lack of funding, technology hype curves, and demands of employees, companies need to learn to scale in a much more cost-effective and sustainable manner. “𝘍𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘢𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘥𝘰𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘴, 𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘨𝘯𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤-𝘧𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴” and of course, be supported by the right initiatives at the right time.     Many of us at Leader Labs have held various HR and L&D roles ourselves and we want to share this contentious article rapidly drawing both criticism and respect.  We partner with many amazing HR & L&D & Talent practitioners seeking innovative ways to support and keep their leaders and teams engaged, thriving, and productive.  In support of all of you, here’s our view as to what still needs to be done to go from HR sucks to HR rocks: 1️⃣ Showcase your clear strategy and wins(!) how people (employees and customers) are contributing to the success of the business. 2️⃣ Focus on value creation for the business - align everything to supporting the business goals and measure often - think and act like a product expert and if you don’t know how, go seek them out and get their help. 3️⃣ Say “I disagree” more often than not when it comes to major decisions impacting the people and back it up with a solution. 4️⃣ Network and be visible - sit with other teams, hold regular check-ins (walking meetings if you can) up, across, and down the organization - you’ll have more of the pulse as to what’s really going on and can build trust as you in the business with everyone. 👉 Agree?
