LB Class XLIII had an unforgettable Urban Development & Environment Day! A huge THANK YOU to our incredible co-chairs Victoria Leet, Andres Limones, Kristen Nowicki, AICP & Jennifer Whittington for leading the way and curating such an impactful experience! Your dedication made this day truly exceptional. The journey began at Stiles, where Dr. Jennifer Jurado shared invaluable insights into Broward County’s resilience strategies for climate change and sea level rise—critical knowledge as our region navigates sustainability challenges. Next, we ventured into the wild at Sawgrass Recreation Park, where Dr. Christa Zweig captivated us with her ecological expertise before we experienced the Everglades up-close on an exhilarating airboat ride. Then, it was off to the Waste Management Recycling Facility, where Shiraz Kashar, PMP pulled back the curtain on what REALLY happens to our recyclables. Eye-opening and inspiring to see the systems keeping our community sustainable!
