We had an incredible time at Camp Dawson Event Center for our leadership retreat! We focused on team building and collaboration, all while discussing the bright future of economic development in Mon County. Looking forward to bringing these ideas back and making a positive impact in our community! Thank you to our economic development panelists, Frank Vitale, Susan Riddle, Erik Carlson, and Cliff Sutherland for spending your afternoon with us. Thank you Mountaineer ChalleNGe Academy for educating us on the incredible work you’re doing. And thank you to the retreat coordinators, Rachelle Beatty, Lauren A. Thomas, Joe Lombardi, and especially Mike Carr for facilitating so many of the activities.

This year for my birthday I am working on a small project. I am hoping to harness the good of social media to help me out. A little over a year ago I changed jobs and landed in the world of behavioral health and addiction recovery. In that short time, my life has changed. I work everyday to make sure the lives of the people we serve are better. This past year has shown me a lot of gratitude. To give some of that back I would like to honor two very important people in my life… my dad, who’s recovery journey has been simply amazing and I could not be more proud of him for… and my mom who always showed us the importance of family and celebrating holidays with family. This project I hope will allow several of the people that we serve the ability to better celebrate the upcoming holidays with their families. In true Amber fashion and my love of decorating I am working to gather holiday decorations to make these families holidays a little more special. Donations of any size would mean the world to me. Equipping leaders for the future! We launched the Leadership Mon Class of 2025 today. Thank you Felicia Posey for facilitating the Maxwell Method of Leadership discussion and thank you Chestnut Mountain Ranch for hosting us. Friend-raising was on full display. Thank you Morgan Hunt, CPA and Carmen Pennington for assisting with the session planning! Next stop….Camp Dawson Event Center next week for the annual retreat.

Leadership Monongalia's purpose is to identify, develop and sustain community leaders. The program aims to develop and enhance personal leadership skills, provide knowledge enrichment of Monongalia County and to develop and cultivate leadership involvement throughout Monongalia County. The cultivation of new leadership is of utmost importance to West Virginia's future prosperity and progress.
