Leadership Tampa Bay’s Tourism Day was a deep dive into the region’s vibrant hospitality and attractions industry. The day kicked off early at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s Gwazi Pavilion with a welcoming breakfast, where Chairman Eric Dailey set the stage for an engaging lineup of presentations. Santiago Corrada, President and CEO of Visit Tampa Bay provided an insightful overview of the area’s thriving tourism sector, followed by Jeff Davis, President of Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, who shared updates on the park’s latest initiatives. The group then embarked on a Serengeti Safari, experiencing firsthand one of the park’s most popular attractions with over 200 species of animals, a beautiful sunrise, and the opportunity to feed some hungry giraffes before the park even opened. Next, the group traveled to the Tampa Bay History Center for a lunch sponsored by Columbia Restaurant. The highlight of the visit was an engaging panel discussion titled “Savoring Tampa Bay: The Intersection of Travel, Culture, and Cuisine.” Moderated by Jeff H. of the Columbia Restaurant Group, the panel featured industry leaders Andrea Gonzmart Williams, Patrick Harrison, and Natalia Levey, who discussed Tampa Bay’s unique blend of history, culinary excellence, and tourism growth. After lunch, the group then had the opportunity to explore the Tampa Bay History Center’s galleries, deepening their appreciation for the city’s rich cultural heritage. The day continued with a visit to The Florida Aquarium where Roger Germann, President and CEO provided an inside look at the aquarium’s conservation efforts and expansion projects. Tourism Day showcased the economic and cultural significance of Tampa Bay’s hospitality sector, reinforcing its impact on the region’s growth.

Leadership Tampa Bay’s Immersive Day: A Glimpse Into the Critical Work of Hillsborough County First Responders. The day began with a powerful discussion on leadership, vulnerability, and the value of people led by Vice-Chair, Joe Chiellini, a former firefighter with Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. Jason Dougherty, Fire Chief of HCFR, emphasized, "Our most valuable asset is our people," he said, referring to the 1,300 employees he leads, 1,200 of whom are on the streets serving the community. Next, we were joined by Colonel Anthony Collins from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office plays a critical role in law enforcement and has over 4,000 personnel. The class was given a tour of the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue facility starting with the logistics warehouse, the Office of Emergency Management (OEM), and the media center. The second part of the day was filled with hands-on experiences and demonstrations. Classmates shared their experiences during individual ride-alongs with officers from the Tampa Police Department and Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Thank you again to our Gold Sponsors: ASI Landscape Management, PrimeGroup Insurance, and Osgood & Associates, P.C. And our Bronze Sponsors Connie Gage Smith & Associates Real Estate , and Bake’n Babes.
