#ICYMI California Governor Gavin Newsom vetoed LeadingAge California co-sponsored Senate Bill 37 (Caballero), which sought to create a rental assistance pilot to prevent and end homelessness among older adults and people with disabilities. "While this outcome is disappointing, we acknowledge that California is facing significant fiscal challenges that limit the creation of new pilots and programs at this time. Despite this setback, our advocacy to address increasing older adult homelessness does not end here," said Meghan Rose, General Counsel and Chief Government Affairs Officer of LeadingAge California. "Older adults are becoming unhoused at a faster rate than any other demographic, and it’s critical that California increases supports to keep older adults housed, expand affordable housing options, and address the income disparities faced by older Californians. We will continue to work with our partners to pursue solutions that prevent and end homelessness among older adults." #LeadingAgeCA #SB37 #SeniorHousing #EndHomelessness

Matthew Neeley, President & CEO of Hillcrest, led one of our regional events this week on Principle-Based Leadership at the stunning Meadows in Napa—a unique community that even harvests its own wine on campus! The session brought together staff from neighboring communities, including The Meadows of Napa Valley, Baywood Court, The Inn on Villa Lane, Chancellor Health Care, and Warner Designs. It was a fantastic opportunity for networking and sharing best practices, all in a beautiful, collaborative setting. #LeadingAgeCA #Leadership #Networking

#ICYMI Last week California Govenor @gavinnewsom signed AB 2694(Ward), a key piece of legislation proudly sponsored by LeadingAge California. . “Over the past five years, California has lost 5,000 nursing home beds, underscoring a shift in consumer preferences toward more community-centered, home-like environments such as assisted living...AB 2694 is a pivotal solution, ensuring Californians can access supportive care they need, in settings that honor their independence and freedom to age in the setting of their choice." -Meghan Rose, , General Counsel and Chief Government Affairs Officer of LeadingAge California . 📸I didn't take any pictures. Yesterday I keynoted LeadingAge California's Executive Connect Conference. And those pictures from the stage or with participants just didn't happen. I snapped this one after having a deep, trust-building conversation with five women I just met. Instead of snapping pictures with all the women, I was connecting. Conferences are a fantastic opportunity to build deeper relationships that create lasting impact. While photos capture a moment, connections can shape your experience and energize your purpose. Here’s why you should focus on building meaningful relationships instead: ⚡Trust is built communicating: Real conversations foster trust that’s hard to replicate by just snapping a picture together. AND my topic was Unlock Trust: The Winning Combination to Energize and Retain Teams. So I was taking my own advice. ⚡Shared experiences bond teams: Genuine connections lead to stronger collaboration and future opportunities. And collaboration builds trust. ⚡Networking is about value: Offering insights and support to others creates relationships that extend beyond the event. The Executive Connect Conference was all about making connections between operators and business partners. Setting up times to actually learn about the services and the problems they solve was the purpose of the event. And Leaving with relationships, rather than just photos will keep participants energized! Thank you Kevin Tuuaga, Jeannee Parker Martin, Sina Tate, Sophia Latifia, Christine Martini - Bailey
