Donations to the LeadingAge North Carolina Foundation Disaster Recovery Fund have been tremendous. Giving to the fund continues and checks are beginning to be disbursed to staff members at our affected member communities in western North Carolina. Heartbreaking requests for assistance continue to roll in. We have hugged over the generosity expressed in the face of so much need. We have wept over checks and notes written in wobbly script. Thank you one and all for extending hope and healing. Online giving is now at just more than $94,000. With your help we'd like to make it to $100,000! If you can give more, please scan the QRC below or enter the URL into your browser and give using our online platform. https://lnkd.in/eQKHYQym Gifts are coming in from CCRCs right here in North Carolina and around the country, resident councils and advocacy groups, business members, and individuals who want to be a part of rebuilding and recovery. Thank you for your ongoing support that brings recovery just a little bit closer. Please give what you can to our collective effort. 100% of each gift goes directly to support someone who has been affected by the historic flooding caused by Hurricane Helene. Their message to us is a resounding, thank you. And is there enough for other people who need it? Please give today.

We want to thank the team at The Pines at Davidson for hosting our Foundation Trustees meeting earlier this week. Have you ever been to their campus? The five miles or so between the interstate and their front door is a peaceful winding path through the countryside. The loveliness continues once you enter. Vernon M. Baker, President and CEO, along with the staff who prepared the room, the tech, the food, and more were incredibly hospitable We enjoyed being there very much. Thank you one and all!

We are in contact with our colleagues in western North Carolina who are working hard to support not only their own residents and staff, but also other aging services providers in the area. We are hearing that staff have lost their own homes or their homes need significant repair. Grief is mixed with gratitude as we move forward together navigating the challenging path to recovery. As we coordinate supplies and services for members most impacted, your continued financial support is vital. Please consider a gift to the LeadingAge North Carolina Foundation Disaster Recovery Fund today to support member communities in North Carolina most affected: https://lnkd.in/egwvUj_W. #HelpHelene #HurricaneRelief #HeleneAid #SupportHelene #DisasterRelief #HurricaneHelene #HeleneUpdates #HurricaneNews

LeadingAge North Carolina reposted this
The link below is a text-only, lite version of Blue Ridge Public Radio (BPR) built on Newspack that was rapidly deployed in response to a need to get critical information into the hands of folks in Western North Carolina struggling with weak cell service. There are no ads or images so it loads fast. It also includes help resources with links for services and other community resources. PLEASE share this out publicly to family, friends, social groups, and anywhere you think might reach our neighbors on the ground in western NC and eastern TN. There are too many people to tag who were involved in pulling this together, but special credit goes to Joe Boydston, Shannan Bowen, Melody K. , Kinsey Wilson, Tyler Dukes and Melanie Sill
