LSC was in Atlanta yesterday for a forum that included Supreme Court of Georgia Justice Verda Colvin, who shared, "To ensure that those who have less, never feel less than, we have to be committed to true access to justice." The event featured powerful stories from Malik Hines (Georgia Legal Services Program), Kathryn Marous (Atlanta Legal Aid Society) and Dr. Stan Sonu (Children's Healthcare of Atlanta) on the benefits of addressing health-harming legal needs and the importance of social determinants of justice. A second panel emphasized the corporate sector’s role in access to justice, with insights from UPS Vice President of Legal & Compliance Seth Bruckner and The Home Depot Assistant General Counsel Kacy Goebel. At the Pro Bono Service Awards Reception that evening, former Governor Roy Barnes delivered remarks, celebrating honorees like Atlanta Legal Aid Society’s Service Council; Professor Ishaq Kundawala (Mercer University - Walter F. George School of Law); Georgia Wills, Trusts, and Probate Firm, LLC; and attorney Sandra Saseen-Smith. LSC thanks everyone for their dedication to justice in Georgia and across the country!

Pro bono work is often thought of as a side project that lawyers perform, but legal aid organizations that can rely on full-time staff have increased opportunities to expand services and provide more intensive client service through pro bono. Catch the latest episode of Talk Justice for a look at the benefits of professionalizing pro bono. The ABA Journal's Lee Kathryn Rawles is joined by Public Counsel's Kathryn Eidmann and LSC's Sandhya Kidd. Talk Justice episodes are available on Spotify, Apple and all other popular platforms. #ProBono #ProBonoWeek
