A few weeks ago I attended the Lesbians Who Tech & Allies Summit and had the chance to chat with the unstoppable Kara Swisher. Kara’s got the talk up now on her podcast. https://lnkd.in/e8RdD2pr
Lesbians Who Tech + Allies is the largest LGBTQIA+ technology community in the world -- committed to visibility, intersectionality, and changing the face of technology. The 110,000 nonbinary, LGBTQIA+ women, trans and nonbinary individuals, queer women of color (and our allies) in tech who make up our community come from every background and live in over 40+ cities worldwide. Over 5,000 women and non-binary people in tech attend our San Francisco Summit, making us the largest professional LGBTQIA+ event in the world and the largest event for women in tech in California. Our programmatic work includes a coding scholarship for non-binary and LGBTQIA+ women called the Edie Windsor Coding Scholarship Fund, a mentoring program, Bring a Lesbian to Work Day, and a leadership program -- #LWTSQUAD -- focused on supporting our members as they move into senior leadership roles and onto corporate boards. We're not just creating communities; we're pushing the tech sector to be more inclusive and changing the face of the entire tech industry.

Only at #LWTSUMMIT will you see an award-winning actress, producer, and screenwriter tell a helicopter “the lesbians are talking”! One of the most unforgettable moments of the 2024 New York Summit was listening to Lena Waithe talk about how her commitment to shining a light on important topics through storytelling has lead to her success in the entertainment industry. It was so inspiring, not even loud rotary-winged aircrafts could dull her message.Thank you Lena for bringing your knowledge, experience, and incredible spirit to #LWTSUMMIT. We want you back every year. The helicopter is not invited. #lwtsummit #lenawaithe #hillmangrad

Got back from the Lesbians Who Tech & Allies Summit in New York, and I’m still buzzing! 🌟 Had the honor of representing Canada's 2SLGBTQI+ Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC) alongside some of our amazing certified suppliers. Listening to incredible speakers like Elliot Page, Billie Jean King, Megan Rapinoe, Sue Bird, and some of the cast of The L Word was truly unforgettable. Check out some snapshots from the event—such an inspiring experience I can’t wait to carry forward into the work we’re doing at CGLCC!

Last month, I attended my first Lesbians Who Tech & Allies Summit in NYC! I volunteered for a day and really enjoyed connecting with recruiters and mid-career professionals at the career fair. Also loved the chance to visit New York and eat delicious gluten free food!! I’ve recently started a Udemy course by Stéphane Maarek to pursue the AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate certification, since I’ve noticed it’s highly valued in many job postings. For those who’ve taken the exam, any tips or resources you'd recommend? Also, for hiring managers—how might this certification give a new bootcamp grad an edge? Let me know! #AWS #JobSearch #FullStackDeveloper #BackendDeveloper #FrontendDeveloper #OutInTech #DiversityInTech
Thank you Brea Robinson & Roblox! Your partnership and on-site presence really helped make #LWTSUMMIT so incredibly special!

I love a lot of things about my team and role at Expedia Group, but one of my favorite things has been capturing the magic that happens at URG-focused conferences like Latinas in Tech, RenderATL (Render Atlanta), Disability:IN, and Lesbians Who Tech & Allies! It’s so fulfilling to connect with underrepresented communities, showcase the incredible talent and opportunities within EG, and live out our commitment to diversity and inclusion. I’m excited to continue sharing our authentic stories and helping people envision their future at Expedia Group alongside the best team! See you soon AFROTECH 💙

What an incredible week at the Lesbians Who Tech & Allies summit in NYC this week. My feet may still be aching from all the walking, but the vibrant energy, insightful talks, and new friendships more than made up for it! Highlights (in no particular order): * Accidentally twinning with the amazing Kara Swisher after she pressed Microsoft AI's Mustafa Suleyman with tough, no-nonsense questions about the future of AI—especially the risks this powerful technology could pose to people and the planet. * Learning about AI "hallucinations" (a term I’m surprisingly fond of!) and how humans and machines alike can be prone to trickery—and what experts are doing to safeguard us. * Picking up practical tips on how to craft prompts for AI that are more nuanced (taught by a comedian, no less!). * Playing basketball and cornhole just for fun, thanks to the teams from Deloitte, Roblox, and Uber. * Scoring some helpful NYC transportation tips from a booth exhibitor (you know who you are!). *Feeling the deep resonance with fellow attendees on the importance of people-first brands. I’m grateful for the deep conversations with complete strangers, now new friends and future collaborators. This summit wasn’t just about tech—it was about community, learning, and connection. Thanks to Julia Juarez Miller for bringing together such a brilliant group of queer women and allies. Can’t wait for next year!
