  • Lewis-Burke Associates LLC wants to congratulate The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine for the release of a new report, “A Research Agenda Toward Atmospheric Methane Removal.” Atmospheric methane removal is a nascent area of research with tremendous potential and the report lays out promising investments federal agencies can make to explore technology options. With modest investments, the U.S. can remain a leader and chart a path forward for a clean energy future.

Coffee is beloved around the world, but how many of us could pick a coffee tree out of a line-up? Or know anything about the role microbes play in fermenting coffee "cherries" before their beans are roasted? I love coffee-flavored everything - coffee ice cream, coffee frosting, and, of course, coffee cake! So I was especially excited to again participate in the AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellowship Alumni Office's collaboration with the U.S. Botanic Garden, "Expert Is In" series this August. Last year I got to talk about the huge global diversity of corn, and this year, I shared my passion for plants and microbes with USBG visitors by talking about coffee! Younger visitors even got to paint with coffee extract (okay, and some adults too). AAAS just wrote about all of the "Expert" experiences this year. https://lnkd.in/e48n-WvR

For a decade, Manufacturing USA has been a cornerstone initiative for catalyzing public-private partnerships around the common goal of positioning the United States on the forefront of advanced manufacturing. We’re looking forward to this important conversation with ITIF and leading manufacturing innovation institutes, like MxD, that will reflect on 10 years of this bold initiative and look toward its future. The event is on October 23. Additional information can be found at: https://lnkd.in/eb-VzEbG

On Wednesday, September 18th, our team at Lewis-Burke Associates had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Annual 'Rally for Medical Research Hill Day' Reception! This gathering brought together nearly 300 dedicated advocates, researchers, and policymakers, all united by a common goal: to advocate for essential NIH funding and the advancement of medical research. At the reception, we connected with passionate individuals from across the country, sharing insights and stories that highlight the critical importance of continued investment in medical research. It was inspiring to hear firsthand from patients and researchers whose lives are impacted by the funding we champion, as well as from NIH’s own Monica Bertagnolli regarding her priorities for the agency. Each year, our experts at LBA look forward to supporting our clients at this impactful event, which serves as a powerful reminder of the collective effort required to drive medical breakthroughs and influence healthcare policy. Let’s keep the momentum going and continue advocating for the research that shapes our lives! #MedicalResearch #Advocacy #FundNIH #TogetherForChange

The Lewis-Burke University of Arizona team had an exciting and productive visit to campus, which included strategic discussions with university leadership and faculty, campus-wide presentations, and visits to the San Xavier Mining and Richard F. Caris Mirror Laboratories. We have enjoyed a successful partnership with the University of Arizona and are already looking forward to our visit next year.

  • On Wednesday, a group of Lewis-Burke staff toured the Pentagon. While our colleagues are often meeting with DOD officials or staffing clients in the Pentagon, this tour allowed our colleagues to learn about the great history of the building, including how the Pentagon, as one of the largest office buildings in the world, was constructed in just 16 months.
