ICYMI: We're so grateful to Ash and Everyday Health for sharing this important message!
This Pride Month, we are spotlighting Ash Davidson’s transition journey. Ash Davidson (he/they) was excited to be transitioning to his true identity and knew that top surgery was going to change his life. What he didn’t expect was the chest cancer diagnosis that would come along with it. Since then, he’s found a way to embrace his physical body and spiritual self. Now, Ash shares their journey with chest cancer in the middle of transitioning, and how he eventually reached “absolute gender euphoria.” Watch Ash's full story on Everyday Health ➡️ https://lnkd.in/ecGc2Kxh National LGBTQI+ Cancer Network #health #wellness #healthcare #pride #cancer #LGBTQIA

Routine healthcare as well as preventative screenings are important to detect illness at an early stage when treatment is likely to work best. While many who identify as LGBTQ+ fear discrimination when seeking health care, there are health care providers who are welcoming and inclusive! Take the pledge to get screened and find a list of providers who care about LGBTQ+ health even if you don’t have insurance: https:/qhip.cancer-network.org/ #QueerHealthIsPower #CancerAwareness

WATCH: "I used cigarettes to cover up who I really, truly was." Angie started smoking menthol cigarettes at 15 to mask feelings tied to her sexual orientation. It took her decades to quit smoking for good and to come to terms with who she was. Angie said quitting smoking helped her rediscover and love herself. Now is the time to quit smoking. If you or someone you know needs help, free assistance is available by calling 1-800-QUIT-NOW. #CDCTips #QuitSmoking #QuitNow

KEEPING OUR EYES OPEN: Recent Supreme Court cases have the potential to harm our communities. We know this news can be overwhelming and disheartening. That’s why the Network is committed to making sure you know what’s going on and providing support. Courts can now legally ignore how agencies like the FDA and CDC interpret laws. This could impact critical issues like protections for trans patients and Medicaid access. In healthcare, we rely a lot on these agencies to make important decisions, and these cases weaken that ability. We’re committed to fighting for welcoming spaces, good quality of life, and trained medical providers for all of us. Want to learn more?
