Liberty Point's spirit week was off the charts! Kids and staff got their groove on with team dances, went head-to-head in lip sync battles, and showed off their bendy skills with limbo. We're huge fans of spirit week. It's like an energy drink for the whole facility, fueling friendly competition and team bonding!

What's not to love about a sport-themed event? Our staff led a celebration where residents mingled, enjoyed BBQ, and cheered on their favorite sport teams together, savoring the moment with laughter and a delicious smoked brisket.

We extended an invitation to community partners to visit our facility during our staff celebration last week, with the dual objective of recognizing our mental healthcare staff's achievements and showcasing their exceptional work. The Staunton Fire & Rescue team joined us for a tour, during which we highlighted our facility's operations, and the vital services provided by our mental health care staff on a daily basis. We are grateful to our staff for making it effortless to take pride in our work at Liberty Point.

Wellbeing initiatives must prioritize the caregivers themselves, as mental health significantly influences both staff and patient outcomes. Let's cultivate a supportive environment that uplifts and empowers our teams. Recently, we recognized our staff with a catered lunch from Island Wheels. These dedicated professionals are the backbone of our organization, enabling us to provide comprehensive care. We must acknowledge their vital contributions and express our gratitude. We were able to celebrate our Director of Milieu Management hitting her 20 years of service at Liberty Point. Kathryn Dickerson creates an environment of advocacy, knowledge, and care in all she does. Kathryn has a wide level of expertise in multiple areas and is seen as a pivotal piece of our team. Thank you, Kathryn, for all you do!

Our Service Excellence Council created a "chill" environment for both kids and staff. We were able to enjoy some vitamin D, a yummy cone of ice, and celebrate summer as a team. Students were enjoying picking their favorite flavor of cone, while staff were able to refresh and rejuvenate as a team. Our local cone of ice truck, Kona Ice, was brought to us during the high of the afternoon sun and started our week out strong!

This month, our Service Excellence winner is the one and only Jeff Breeden! Jeff is consistently nominated for his professionalism, teamwork, and his ability to treat everyone as a guest. Jeff goes above and beyond every day to assist his teammates, the young men of Liberty Point, and improve the facility. One of Jeff’s team members stated, “Jeff took it upon himself to help me clean without ever having to ask. He always goes beyond his duties at LP. Thank you!” Another team member stated, “Jeff continues to rise above the call of duty to excel at his job.” Thanks, Jeff, for all you do!
