Recently, George Logothetis, Chairman of Libra Philanthropies and Executive Chairman of Libra Group, was honored to deliver a keynote address at Boulder Crest Foundation’s 3rd Annual New York Benefit, an event celebrating the resilience of U.S servicepeople, veterans, and their families, entitled “Posttraumatic Growth: Finding Purpose After Trauma.” Before an audience of over 700 people, including U.S. military members, veterans, first responders, and their families, George emphasized that solace and #purpose can be found in serving a cause greater than oneself. He discussed the power of the concept of Posttraumatic Growth – viewing trauma “not necessarily as a permanent barrier but an actual scaffolding that can enable growth.” Boulder Crest Foundation is a nonprofit that provides life-changing Posttraumatic Growth (PTG) programs free of charge to members of the U.S. military, veterans, and first responder communities, and their families. Noting his great honor addressing the many heroes in the room, George called on them to continue to be a beacon to others to serve. His closing question, “why them, and not me?” reminded many that “to serve is both the greatest burden and the greatest calling.” Libra Philanthropies is proud to support the Boulder Crest Foundation in its mission to create a world where individuals can thrive after trauma. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who have served—past, present, and future. #Service #Resilience #PosttraumaticGrowth #PTG

We're thrilled to share that the Seleni Institute, recently had the honor of meeting with Valerie Biden Owens and New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, two leaders committed to advancing mental health care, including postpartum support. Ms. Biden Owens, who serves as Chair of the Biden School of Public Policy & Administration, University of Delaware and is the sister of U.S. President Joe Biden, visited Seleni Institute in June. During her visit, she met with Seleni Co-Founder Nitzia Logothetis and Executive Director Seema Bajaj to discuss critical maternal health issues and the development of related policies. Ms. Biden Owens also engaged with Seleni’s core team and clinicians, emphasizing the importance of educating and involving future policymakers in creating essential support systems for mothers and families—systems that have a profound impact on child development. In addition, last month, Seema Bajaj joined the Chamber of Mothers for an inspiring discussion with Senator Gillibrand, who shared her journey in advocating for family-related issues, including paid family leave. Senator Gillibrand, a key figure in advancing the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline, underscored her belief that issues like family leave should transcend political divisions, garnering bipartisan support to drive impactful policies forward. The event highlighted the power of community, particularly the unique strength of women and mothers. One of the ten philanthropic initiatives of Libra Philanthropies, the Seleni Institute was created over a decade ago by Nitzia and George Logothetis, to address the unmet needs surrounding maternal mental health, caregivers, and individuals building their families. To date, Seleni has trained over 6,800 clinicians in 30 countries, positively impacting more than 200,000 lives across diverse communities and backgrounds. We are inspired by these important conversations and the ongoing efforts to improve the emotional well-being of women, caregivers, and families. We look forward to the future collaborations that will continue to advance dialogue and policy development with leaders like Ms. Biden Owens and Senator Gillibrand. #mentalhealth #health #LibraPhilanthropies #Seleni
