Two weeks ago, I had the privilege of moderating the session on AI Transforming Industries: A Look at AI in Healthcare at the City of Ideas Conference in West Palm Beach, powered by Related Ross and Amazon Web Services (AWS). It was an incredible discussion with thought leaders like Dr Rowland Illing, Chief Medical Officer at AWS, Rohit Chandra, Executive VP and Chief Digital Officer at Cleveland Clinic, and Dipen Parekh, M.D., Chief Operating Officer at the University of Miami Health System. Thank you to Michael B. Greenwald, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Related Ross for having me for an inspiring conversation! #AI #Healthcare #CityOfIdeas #Innovation #WestPalmBeach #Concordia

👏 Libra Group’s Chief Relationship Officer Maria Paula Correa was featured in the latest “In Her Own Words” byline from Bizwomen. In the interview, María reflects on her journey—from a politically engaged teenager in Colombia, to working for a head of state, and now a senior executive who shapes Libra Group’s growth strategy worldwide. Maria’s career— spanning roles such as Chief of Cabinet for Colombian President Iván Duque Márquez, working on presidential campaigns, and serving as Senior Director of Strategic Engagement at Concordia—proves that every #connection can open new doors. Concordia is one of the world's top conveners of global leaders across politics, business, philanthropy, and more, and is one of 10 philanthropic initiatives under our independently run sister organization, Libra Philanthropies. Today, Maria is still involved with Concordia as a Senior Advisor. 🤝 As part of Libra Group’s Executive team, Maria identifies and builds strategic relationships with governments and key stakeholders, driving lasting impact on a global scale. 💡 Her career is a testament to the power of relationships. As she notes, “Relationships are a strategic gamble. You follow your passions and open doors when you can, but you never know where they will lead,” and adds, “Never underestimate the power of relationships to totally transform your world.” At Libra Group, we believe that relationships are the foundation of meaningful progress. The cost of healthcare has been a major topic of discussion in the United States. We spoke to experts that compared healthcare across 10 different high-income countries to look at access to care, administrative efficiency, equity, & more. Reginald D. Williams II, the Vice President of International Healthy Policy and Practice Innovations at The Commonwealth Fund, gave us a synopsis of why the U.S. struggles in regards to healthcare. In his role, Williams facilitates international dialogue and education. His efforts empower U.S. policy makers and healthcare leaders to glean insights from global experiences and best practices. Each year at the Concordia Annual Summit, we gather changemakers, nonprofit leaders, C-Suite executives, heads of state, and entrepreneurs to address global challenges. If 10-year old Shelly would have known that one day her book would be featured next to her hero, Connie Chung (the first woman to co-anchor CBS Evening News), she would have fainted. This #InternationalWomensDay, let’s celebrate curious women and those who support them. Thank you to Julie Pham, PhD and the team at CuriosityBased for the feature: “This Little World: A How-To Guide to Social Innovators” is going to be a classroom classic.” And to everyone who helped bring this book to life — thank you for your support and encouragement. To celebrate #InternationalWomensDay we at CuriosityBased just released our updated list of leadership books written by women—now in its fourth year! Unlike typical “best of” or “recommended” lists, ours highlights how the pie keeps growing. This year, it includes 588 books and counting. https://lnkd.in/gRp-eUq8 I always say: "To enrich how we lead, expand who we read." This year, we also featured six incredible books on our banner—and I personally know five of the six authors. The only author I don't know personally is Connie Chung, though I got to hear her speak live at Town Hall when she was promoting her new memoir. The other authors include: Dr. Gina Anderson, a new friend introduced to me by Lei Wang. Her business Luma Brighter Learning has inspired me to think more about niching. Check out her book, Thrive: How Learning Can Ignite a New Way Forward Sharon Podobnik Peterson, who I met in 2023 at TEDxBellevueWomen through Suzanne Weller. Her book, It's Not (All) Your Fault: Self-Help and the Individualization of Oppression, is vulnerable without being cringe-y. It will make you look at self-help industry differently. Shelly Kurtz, who I've known for over 20 years, since she was at Comcast sponsoring events organized by my family's Vietnamese newspaper. Her book, This Little World: A How-To Guide for Social Innovators, is going to be a classroom classic. She's also teaching at Pacific Lutheran University Amy Morrison, Ed.D. , the President of Lake Washington Institute of Technology, wrote, The Survival Guide for Gen X Leaders: Building the Bridge from the Great Resignation to the Multigenerational Future We All Want. I got to be interviewed in it and then I interviewed her for my podcast. It's the only book about Gen X leadership I know. Jen Martin, MPA, PCC's The Creative Way Forward: A Guide for Navigating Change in Work and Life. It's my go-to recommendation for personal change management. It has thought-provoking exercises and I particularly love her "Five Futures" prompt. We know this list isn't complete. So please feel free to add more recommendations for memoirs and leadership books in the comments so we can add it to the list when we update it next year. You can check out all our book lists here: https://lnkd.in/grR-VSQX #InternationalWomensDay #LeadershipBooks #WomenInLeadership #AmplifyWomen #ReadMoreWomen #CuriosityBased #DiversityInLeadership #WomenAuthors #LeadershipDevelopment

We’re heading to Italy! Our Executive Director, Hanne LeCount, and several other key members of the Concordia team will be at the Bellagio Center in a few days. Here they will convene leaders across sectors to discuss the future of the Amazon and its role in global sustainability. Through strategic conversations and working sessions, they’ll work to develop and identify partnerships, investment opportunities and policy recommendations. The results of this convening aim to align with the core of the Concordia Amazonas Initiative—uniting the power of private, public, and civil sectors to create lasting influence and scalable impact. If you’d like to get involved, see Hanne’s post below!⬇️
Next week, I'll be joining an incredible group of leaders at the Bellagio Center to advance the Concordia Amazonas Initiative and lay the groundwork for COP30. With the Amazon's health directly tied to our planet’s future, this convening will focus on forging strategic partnerships, developing actionable policy recommendations, and mobilizing investments for lasting impact. HERE'S MY ASK: As we curate a reading list and add in real world examples of either challenges or solutions, I want to hear from YOU. Send me what data you're using, what partnerships you're building, and the challenges you face that are persisting. Help me make this upcoming program meaningful for all of us working in this biodiversity conservation space and stay posted for outcomes from the week.
