As NFPA #FirePreventionWeek2024 comes to a close, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank and celebrate our fire code and safety partners for their dedicated work to keep communities safe across the U.S. 🔥 At Lime, safety is our highest priority, and fire prevention is a major factor in that work. Here's what we're doing to ensure a safe, fire-free operations for both riders and Lime employees worldwide: 💰 We invest heavily in designing proprietary batteries and corresponding infrastructure for usage, storage, transport and charging that puts prevention first. Our battery infrastructure follows the strictest e-mobility fire safety and testing standards from UL and CE, and we train our staff on the most up to date handling measures. 🔋 As a result of our in-house proprietary design, every Lime e-bike and e-scooter battery includes a high-tech battery management system with sensors that can detect damage and potential problems before they occur, shutting down power to the cells. 🔌 We’ve also designed specialized charging carts with similar measures in place to prevent thermal events from propagating between batteries, which ensure that if there is a thermal event in one battery, it remains confined and does not spread to other batteries. 🤝 Beyond that, we regularly work with leading standards organizations like UL Standards & Engagement to stay up to date on the latest safety measures, and support their efforts to raise awareness of the need for strict fire prevention measures when handling lithium ion batteries. 📈 We continue to invest in building the most cutting-edge fire prevention technology across our battery infrastructure so that riders, our city partners, and our brave first responders can feel confident in the safety of our products.

Lime has rolled into Japan! 🛴📍🇯🇵 Earlier this week, we launched in Tokyo, marking our first time serving Japan. This is a major milestone toward our mission to build a future where transportation is shared, affordable and carbon-free, as we work to bring micromobility to more cities around the world. We’re so excited to be back in East Asia and we plan to be here for the long term! We kicked off our service at 5am Monday morning, with service in Shibuya, Shinjuku, Meguro, Setagaya, Toshima and Nakano, with plans to gradually expand over time. As covered in Bloomberg, we’re launching Gen4.1 e-scooters and our Gen4.1 Seated, which will add a seated scooter to the Japanese market for the first time. Safety and tidiness will be a key focus of our program, which is why we’re launching with our helmet selfie feature to incentivize safe riding. We can’t wait to deliver a best-in-class service to Japanese residents and begin delivering the benefits micromobility offers, including less traffic, cleaner air, improved convenience when commuting to and from work and emissions-free travel.
