“As former secretaries of state from opposing political parties and an emergency physician on the frontlines of healthcare, we have witnessed first hand how health and civics intersect.” Today, USA TODAY spotlighted our work at Vot-ER leading the civic health movement in an article co-authored by two former Secretaries of State alongside emergency physician Dr. Ali Raja, unpacking the powerful potential of voter engagement in healthcare settings. Trey Grayson (R-KY) and Miles Rapoport (D-CT) joined forces with Dr. Raja from Harvard to ask healthcare workers to lead the charge in nonpartisan civic engagement. Look, the message is clear: healthcare has a unique opportunity to strengthen democracy by making civic participation as essential as the care it provides.
