A nonprofit that builds a 100% literate, employable, and self-sufficient community through holistic literacy services.
About us
The Literacy Coalition of Central Texas breaks the cycle of intergenerational poverty through holistic literacy services. Low literacy impacts every facet of social life. When adults learn how to read, write, do basic math, improve their English skills, and learn how to use computers, they gain the power to lift themselves out of poverty, find sustainable employment, and help their children succeed in school. Literacy changes lives! At the Literacy Coalition, we believe everyone should have the tools they need to reach their full potential and have the opportunity to thrive. Our services and partnerships create a bridge to opportunity through Adult Education, Career Development Education, and Family Education. Our vision is to create a Central Texas community that is 100% literate, employable, and self-sufficient. Literacy is opportunity!

We are thrilled to share the exciting news that Literacy Coalition of Central Texas' Board of Directors officially appointed Lisa Stewart as CEO of Literacy Coalition of Central Texas in the May board meeting. “When we asked Lisa to take on the role of interim CEO in 2023 she did so without hesitation. The board thought then she possessed the skills and passion for the job. Eleven months later, there is no question and the interim title no longer applies. We are delighted she will lead Literacy Coalition of Central Texas into the future.” shared Seth Winick, Board President. Please join us in celebrating Lisa Stewart as CEO of Literacy Coalition of Central Texas!

As we like to say, Literacy is Opportunity! Lots of good learning opportunities for literacy providers coming up, thanks for shouting out the different types of adult literacy that interconnect to change lives, Jacqueline Aguilera.
Let's get warmed up for the conference season of #AdultEducation and #AdultLiteracy. We are no longer siloed instructors and programs within our comfortable #ESL, #ABE, #GED, #HSE, #Computer, #Financial, #Health, and #IET training classes. We are all #TalentPoolDevelopers. #Literacy is Life. It impacts every aspect of our lives, and as my colleague Red says "it has an amazing ripple effect as it then lets us share our knowledge with our families." As you consider attending events like the #DigitalSymposium I produced earlier this month and upcoming conferences like Coalition on Adult Basic Education, Literacy Texas, or NES Fircroft's Energy Workforce of the Future career fair and summit starring one of our #HTX rockstars Dr. Christina Robinson, remember, literacy is the key that opens the door to equity and opportunity. How will you branch out and develop new keys for your learners' success through topics you may have never considered before? Remember, we are only limited by the silos we build ourselves.
