Literacy Pittsburgh once again attended Carlynton School District's Back to School Celebration! We had the opportunity to share out information regarding the English class offered at Carnegie Elementary School. This is the fourth year Carlynton School District has partnered with Literacy Pittsburgh to provide free adult English classes to the parents/guardians of immigrant and refugee children of the District. Thank you to The Jessie Games for inviting our Family Literacy students at Literacy Pittsburgh to enjoy an afternoon of fun games, prizes and food, as well as backpacks and school supplies for each school aged child in attendance. Our families had a great time getting together at the 11th Annual Jessie Games for a care-free day of fun.

Help us welcome Laura as a Service Coordinator! Laura grew up in Virginia and studied Music Technology at William & Mary. After working in software and living in Israel, she moved to Chicago to pursue social work and then Boston to teach. She recently moved to Pittsburgh and worked as a preschool teacher. Laura enjoys music, board games, walks in Frick Park, and learning about psychology and history. She is interested in cognitive theory and speaks French and Hebrew.

Joe and Anne recently did a digital literacy class with educators at La Escuelita Arcoiris (The Rainbow School), a nature-based Spanish immersion preschool in Squirrel Hill.
