At Lithic, we view banking partnerships as a long-term investment and a critical component to success. When building payment programs together, both parties should be invested in each other's success. But for that to happen, the relationship must be built on strong foundations and, most importantly, trust. We recently had the chance to speak with Column. Here’s their take on what’s behind healthy bank relationships: “Trust is key to a healthy bank relationship, and these partnerships need to be viewed as an infrastructure investment. The right bank partner, which can support your program’s unique characteristics and ideally your future products, is critical to your ability to scale long-term and differentiate in the market. “Showing that you’ve successfully operated a program before and that you have a strong risk and compliance setup will position you well as you explore direct bank relationships. The good news is that you and your bank should have aligned incentives to create a fully compliant and scalable program - all of which lays the groundwork for partnering with your bank on future iterations and product expansions.” To learn what sponsor banks are looking for in fintech partners, download our latest guide, “How to Go Direct to a Sponsor Bank.” It features quotes from a number of other sponsor banks, a step-by-step walkthrough of the direct-to-bank process, best practices, and more.
