  • This week brought the premiere of the Peak 43 Awards, celebrating Idaho's Fastest Growing Companies. We were incredibly honored to have made this inaugural list alongside so many other thriving Idaho companies. For the past few years, our firm has been in a state of evolution. We've reimagined parts of our business, primarily our strategic focus on smart growth in public sectors and the way we take care of our ever-expanding team of talented employees. As the event program stated, we grow with Idaho! And even for a 50-year-old firm, we believe the future is just the beginning. Thank you BoiseDev for creating this amazing platform for celebrating Idaho businesses. Congrats to two of our industry partners that also made the list: HC Company, Inc. and Wright Brothers, The Building Company.

A new law protecting Idaho-licensed architects went into effect this summer. And it all started with Lombard/Conrad Architects. In 2023, after participating in a public project pursuit where a non-licensed architect was seemingly selected in violation of the law, we realized the need for clarification to state licensure regulations. To protect the integrity of licensing laws, we took action by consulting the law firm of Givens Pursley LLP and engaging Idaho State Representative Chris Mathias. Our goal was to ensure that the language of the state law is clear and enforceable going forward. We chose to dedicate valuable time and resources to this effort not because we believe only Idaho-based companies and professionals should be hired to do government-funded work in our state. In fact, we do not stand for that at all. We live in a growing state, and we believe in an open economy. What we do stand for is qualifications-based selection, and Idaho licensure is the most important qualification. The knowledge and credibility that Idaho licensure provides is paramount, especially when it comes to the creation of high-quality, long-lasting public buildings that serve Idahoans in the safest, most positive way. HB-466 simply backs this up and puts crystal clear, necessary legal requirements in place . . . specifically the amendment of "no firm or corporation shall offer to practice architecture within this state unless an architect who is licensed in Idaho is identified in such offer to provide supervision." Lombard/Conrad invested in this initiative because we care. And when you care about something for the right reasons and enlist the right people to support your cause, change happens. Thank you to Givens Pursley and our incredible team at Lombard/Conrad who supported this effort. And a heartfelt thank you to Rep. Mathias for sponsoring the bill and showing up as a true ally to our industry and Idahoans. #idahoarchitects #changemakers

The gem of the gem state. That's what Executive Director Laura Kendall calls the Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts . . . and she could not be more accurate! We recently had the distinct honor of attending the Morrison Center for the Performing Arts' 40th Anniversary Bravo Ball. It was a memorable night of incredible speakers, world-class performances, dancing, and inspiring support for Idaho's keystone performing arts institution. We felt the magnitude of history that night, toasting our founders who designed the Center in the early 80s and all the community leaders that pushed to make it possible. We can't imagine an Idaho without the Morrison Center for the Performing Arts. ➡ Scroll through for some classic architectural drawings of the first visions for the Center. Before all the design details and the beautiful renderings comes programming. If facilitated well with maximum collaboration and input from stakeholders, this early phase sets any project on a path to success. In partnership with our friends at SmithGroup, we just wrapped the programming effort with Idaho State Police on a new comprehensive forensics lab facility. Though we’re still in the early planning phases of this project, we’ve got our eyes on the big prize: a state-of-the-art Forensic Crime Laboratory that will support the critical public safety needs of a growing state and region.

The new ESI Boise State Construction Management Building will provide students and faculty a cutting-edge, hands-on learning facility. Features include community-building hang-out areas, computer lab, classrooms, conference and team collaboration rooms, and high bay lab for hands-on construction activities. Designed to be a comprehensive teaching tool, infrastructure systems will be exposed and a wide variety of building materials will be utilized to show students how things function. Additionally, this projects checks some really cool boxes: ☑️ Much-needed hub for one of Boise State’s fastest growing programs ☑️ Designed by an all-female team of architects and engineers ☑️ First mass timber building on the Boise State campus ☑️ 100% donor-funded (monetary and in-kind) Fundraising is well underway for this project. If you or your company are interested in making a gift to support this project and make an impact on the future of our industry, this #IdahoGives week is the perfect time! Here’s a great #earthday story! We recently worked with the Boise Centre on an interiors refresh. We’re proud to report that we were able to divert the majority of the old Carnegie textiles and wallcoverings from the landfill! Our flooring partner Tarkett was able to take back over 5,600 palletized yards of carpet for recycling and reuse! Big thanks to Wall 2 Wall Commercial Flooring for palletizing the carpet, Boise Centre for the opportunity, and contractor Petra, Inc. for their commitment to the effort. 🌎💚
