I recently wrote this op-ed for Long Island Business News discussing the impact the Fed rate cut will have on housing.
The Long Island Builders Institute was formed in 1941. It is an association of building industry professionals who are dedicated to making Long Island a better place to live and work by creating a balance between the economy, the environment and the development of quality housing. LIBI members build most of the 5,000 or more homes produced on Long Island each year. They buy land and products and services equivalent to about one billion dollars annually. LIBI serves as a business referral source for builders and remodelers, and those associate members selling directly to the public. LIBI responds to consumer inquiries, through data base referrals given by telephone and on the internet. LIBI also serves the public with referral information by appearing at major home shows and occasionally sponsoring its own. Networking is LIBI’s most important business opportunity. Members learn from each other, exchange information, sell, buy and make deals. Networking takes place at monthly general membership meetings, our East End Chapter meetings and at our many committee meetings and seminars.

Last but certainly not least for Associate Appreciation Month is John Tancredi, Jr. of Kings Building Material. John is not only VP of Architectural Sales at Kings, but also LIBI’s very own Associate Council Coordinator. Kings is a brick & stone supplier that serves architects, engineers, and developers in the tri-state area. John invited LIBI CEO Mike Florio to his office in Roslyn Heights to learn more about the company, his role, and the importance of brick and stone in the building industry. Kings offers hundreds upon hundreds of different varieties of brick for use in all types of developments, with an expertise in large-scale projects like multi-family development projects and large buildings. Point to any brick in his showroom, and John can tell you it's type, use, and its technology, showcasing his in-depth knowledge of building materials.

On September 11th, 2002, TRITEC employees and subcontractors proudly took the flag that flew at the construction site of 100 Motor Parkway and brought it to Yankee Stadium, where it was unfurled in the outfield during the National Anthem. It was a powerful moment of unity and remembrance for our nation. Years later, we discovered a photograph capturing this special moment and are reminded of the strength and resilience that brought us together. Today, as we honor the memory of September 11th, 2001, our thoughts remain with everyone affected. We will never forget. 🇺🇸
Newsday Media Group brought attention to how the issue of housing has taken front and center stage in this upcoming Presidential election. Both parties recognize that our country is in desperate need of more affordable housing and have offered their views on how to tackle it. With housing in the national spotlight, the issues of the slow permitting process, strict zoning regulations, and the need for an incentive-based approach to development is becoming more common in the national discussion.

Today in Newsday: median home prices for a single family home in Nassau County is $800,000, with Suffolk County at $670,000. These prices are a result of too many buyers chasing after too few homes. This is why it is all the more important we not only take steps to increase our housing inventory, but also to increase the variety of housing we have available across our region. #housing #homebuilding #newyork https://lnkd.in/eqgZgirt
