📍A month and a few weeks ago, the founder of hanahana beauty, Abena Boamah-Acheampong, set out to raise $200,000 in crowdfunding.
While this crowdfund would grant certain levels of equity to its customers and improve their overall experience with the brand, one of the major reasons for this was to support local communities—especially women and children in communities in Africa.
Abena, through Hanahana Beauty, has successfully attracted over $400,000 from investors, with a $2 million growth in sales alone since inception, speaking volumes about the potential of the brand.
For BeautyMatter, I had a sit down with Boamah-Acheampong, who took us through the entire crowdfunding process, and what it meant for her customers and her brand.
She shared with us why this was an important pivot for her to take, and why it was necessary to focus on her initiatives in Ghana. Hanahana Beauty is spread across giant retailers like Ulta Beauty and SEPHORA.
