The January 2025 jobs report continues to suggest a slowing but stable labor market: 📈 143K new jobs added 📉 Unemployment rate dipped down to 4.0% (previously 4.1%) 💰 Wages grew 0.5% to an average of $35.87/hr 🎯 7.6M job openings - still well above historical averages Industry Highlights: ⭐️ Job Growth: Health Care (+44K), Retail (+34K), Government (+32K) ❌ Job Losses: Mining, Quarrying, and Oil and Gas Extraction industries 💡 What does this mean? While the labor market remains tight by historical standards, conditions have stabilized, and the overheated job market of the pandemic era has almost entirely cooled. That being said, we're keeping an eye on federal policy related to government employment and immigration in order to anticipate labor trends on the horizon.
