We are thrilled to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Sonja Haug for her outstanding work as co-moderator at Afera. Thank you for your hard work and for representing us so well!
Looking back at the greatest moments of our “#RegulatoryAffairs & #Sustainability”-themed Day 2 of #Afera's 67th #TapingOurFuture Conference in #Thessaloniki, Greece, 2 weeks ago at the beautiful Hyatt Regency: The #WorkingProgramme kicked off with Brenden Drijgers’s (Kraton Corporation) lecture on the monetary value of #CarbonFootprint reduction in the #AdhesiveTapesIndustry. How does carbon price correspond with carbon value? Of all #emissions, we talk of carbon currently, because this is what the market is interested in. We are all becoming aware of the recommended #BestPractices for managing #Scope3 emissions effectively. Both up- and downstream, we as #manufacturers can have the greatest impact, creating value through encouraging #suppliers to adopt #RenewableEnergySources and #SustainablePractices. But rethinking solutions with #circularity in mind is a question of prioritising and adopting a holistic approach. Then Spyridon (Spyros) Konstantis (RULER Consult) discussed the rapidly evolving key corporate focus #ESG from a #RiskManagement and #insurance perspective. #Climate- and ESG-related #DisclosureObligations are developing across the globe and currently vary among the regions. Tape-related businesses in Europe may be subject to #SFDR, #EUTaxonomy and CSRD, obligations of which start in 2025. Bastian Lehmann (mpcg) followed with a study on #CSRD, #ESRS and #sustainability in the adhesive tapes industry. The main focus of the ESRS is the double materiality assessment (#DMA), which determines which sustainability issues are of material importance to a company. The biggest challenges on the path to achieving CSRD #compliance is systematically collecting and managing the necessary #data. After a #networking buffet and mingle break, Kiran D Malhotra (Pressure Sensitive Tape Council (PSTC)) shared insights on behalf of Michel Merkx (ABI Tape (American Biltrite Inc.) from the 2024 #GlobalTapeForum in Shanghai and PSTC #TapeWeek in Orlando. The #GTF and #GlobalTestMethodsCommitteeMeetings centred around #MarketOverviews, #RegulatoryDevelopments and #AdhesiveTapes #TestMethods being developed for #harmonisation: Afera’s #DynamicShearTM and PSTC’s #HighSpeedUnwindTM. PSTC’s Tape Week contains application tracks, including those of their particular focus as high-potential market sectors for increased usage of adhesive tape: #construction, #automotive, #appliances and #medical. #Afera2024 #MemberBenefits #TapeIndustryConference
