About us

As the premier senior care agency in Central New York, we are proud to help our community get the most out of life. The Loretto family of care is an extensive network of agencies committed deeply to our patients. Since 1926, we've become the leading long-term healthcare provider to more than 6,000 individuals and their families, annually. Loretto is an employer of choice for more than 2,000 dedicated employees and compassionate caregivers. Loretto is committed to transforming elder care in Central New York by deinstitutionalizing nursing homes and long-term care services and replacing them with home-like settings featuring person-centered care. This new environment and care model promotes independence and choice, and fosters meaningful relationships between residents or program participants and caregivers. Throughout Loretto's 19 specialized care programs at 20 locations, you'll find we are passionate about our mission to honor, serve, and empower every elder and those who care for them to live with purpose, wholeness, and dignity.

  • Loretto, established in 1926, began with 100 residents, all cared for by the Sisters of the Third Franciscan Order. Today, we honor the trailblazing women who have made this journey possible and continue to shape a community grounded in compassion, support and humility. This #InternationalWomensDay, we celebrate the power of women everywhere. Help us honor the women who built this community. Your donation makes a difference: https://bit.ly/3Pvi0Sc

  • Loretto CEO & President Dr. Kimberly Townsend was a guest on The Capitol Pressroom, a WCNY Radio Production, where she spoke about the critical need for New York State to increase the Medicaid reimbursement rate. The rate, which has not increased since 2007, has resulted in Upstate nursing home facilities losing nearly $2 million annually as they provide care for residents without adequate compensation. Thank you to Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner, Assemblywoman Rebecca Seawright, Assemblywoman Jennifer Lunsford, Assemblywoman Karen McMahon, Assemblywoman Paula Elaine Kay, Assemblyman Nader Sayegh, Senator Cordell Cleare, Senator Gustavo Rivera, and the other members of the Legislature who demonstrated their support for New York’s nursing home residents and families today! It’s critical that this year's #nybudget restore harmful cuts to capital and provide meaningful investments in the Medicaid rates that residents depend on. Thank you for joining us in our call for action: Medicaid funding must match the cost of care! #NYHealthBudgetGap

The Loretto Foundation hosted a leaf tribute ceremony in honor of Charlene and Molly Hughes, both cherished residents of The Nottingham, through the Gifts from The Heart Program. The ceremony, which took place under the canopy of the memorial tree and the gathering room, was a poignant reminder of the lives touched by these two incredible women. James Hughes, son of Molly and husband of Charlene, honored his loved ones with this leaf tribute and shared a heartfelt message: "I was drawn to the tree, often pausing to read the names. The Hughes were fortunate to have The Nottingham nearby, and I felt they belonged on the tree. The Foundation was very helpful in organizing the tribute. My daughter Barb called and loved the pictures sent by The Foundation." We're grateful to have been part of such a meaningful tribute to these two women who will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew them.
