What’s shiny and makes coffee beans go “crack”? We’re excited to introduce the latest member of our roasting team: The Loring We’ve been busy commissioning (unboxing, setting up etc), testing, tasting and getting to know our new roaster. We’ve been roasting our Single Origin coffees on the Loring Smart Roast for the last few weeks. Yes, it’s shiny and as you roast coffee beans, they do “crack” at various stages, but that’s not what makes this roaster special. Phil Pollen, our Head of Coffee, has written about the process of commissioning a new roaster and the difference between an air roaster (Loring) vs a convection-style drum roaster.
