Chief of Happiness 🙂 | Head of Employee Experience @ LA Metro | Driving Organizational Culture and Engagement

🚶♂️💓 Excited to lead Los Angeles Metro’s employee team in supporting the American Heart Association’s 2024 Greater Los Angeles Heart & Stroke Walk! Together, we’re walking to make a difference in the fight against heart disease and stroke, two of the leading causes of death in the U.S. This year, Metro walks in memory of Ilyssa DeCasperis, our former Chief People Officer and a passionate heart health advocate. Her compassion and leadership continue to inspire us, and we’re honored to carry on her work through the Heart & Stroke Walk. Join us in raising awareness, funding, and taking bold steps toward a healthier future! Let’s walk together! 🙌 #GoMetro #HeartHealth #TeamMetro #TeamIlyssa

Today marks Indigenous People’s Day – a day that recognizes the rich cultures, histories and contributions of Indigenous and Native communities across America that have played a foundational role in shaping the land and society we benefit from today. Los Angeles County occupies land originally inhabited and still cared for by the Tongva, Tataviam, Kizh, and Chumash Peoples, which is the land on which we serve. At Metro, we recognize and respect their enduring relationship with this land. In keeping with the “putting people first” philosophy, we must also acknowledge the injustices and challenges that Indigenous communities have faced throughout history, many of which persist today, and commit ourselves to learning and supporting efforts that increase equity and inclusion for everyone. The artwork in some of our Metro stations honors our area’s history, including: the mosaic pattern on the columns at Azusa Downtown that draw upon Gabrielino-Tongva basket designs; the steel columns at Duarte/City of Hope that feature a Gabrielino-Tongva basket pattern; ‘The Crying Rock and Saint Monica’ installment at Downtown Santa Monica Station which was advised by late Tongva elder and cultural consultant Julia Bogany, among others. We invite you to learn more about these Indigenous communities by visiting the Native American Organizations in the City and County of Los Angeles website: https://lnkd.in/dpCJyAR7
