If a Lotus factory tour & Evora i4 AMG track test wasn’t enough (it was!), we got to cross over the road to see Classic Team Lotus & the storied heritage of the marque. So much history, so much innovation, so many childhood memories following Team Lotus in F1 during the 1970-80’s. A dream come true!

About us
Lotus Colorado is affectionately known by its members and long suffering hangers about as LOCO both because of its brevity and apt description of the nature of the club. We are a fun loving bunch that not only embraces the rich and innovative history of the Lotus marque, but uses our cars on a regular basis. Unlike other clubs with trailer queens and snobbish poseurs, our members embrace the diversity of the Lotus cars in the club and really drive their cars on road and track. From the humblest kit built Seven to the last ICE-car, the all-new Emira, all are welcome, especially future EV owners whether Eletre-SUV, or to be released Type 133, 134, or 135 future owners. We are a casual and informal organization, with scheduled monthly dinner meetings (the dinners are not paid for by the club), that provides an opportunity for social and technical networking with other Lotus Colorado owners, experts and enthusiasts. In addition to our monthly meetings, we organize occasional lunch/drive events, tours, Track Days at High Plains Raceway (see the schedule of events for dates) and our eagerly awaited annual Christmas party (typically a potluck dinner with plates, napkins, utensils and alcohol provided by the Lotus Colorado). We have a lot of fun, adventure and camaraderie in LOCO.

I’ve just returned from a UK family vacation including an amazing day at Hethel. A factory tour of Emira production was followed by a double lap of the test track in an Emira i4 AMG that was an utter revelation. For middle son it was an unexpected treat too! Lighter, quicker, & slightly more responsive than my 2017 Evora 400, I think Lotus may have made the perfect “daily” for weekly commuting & spirited w/e driving. I want one, it’s that simple.

The new Lotus Emeya is the fastest-charging electric production car, the brand has claimed, after it recorded a 10-80% refill in just 14 minutes. The luxury 4-door sedan reached a peak charging rate of 402kW and averaged 331kW during the test, which was completed using a 400kW DC connection. Notably, this is greater than the 320kW peak rate claimed by Porsche for the facelifted Taycan. All versions pack a 102kWh battery pack that officially yields a range of up to 379 miles. Will a "shooting brake" be next/forth Lotus lifestyle model and serve as a rival to the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo?

Classic illustration of bias; an "objective test" gives a score and clear win to the Lotus Emira V6, and you want the Porsche anyway. Go figure. Lotus owners get it; the badge, the build, the performance, the resale value, but the PRICE (when optioning a Porsche!). And then you drive a Lotus and you get ride and handling subtlety and finesse, plus steering feedback, so that nothing else matters. Subjectively speaking of course..... 😉
