Dave & Buster's Inc. will now let customers bet against friends on skeeball and other games as it joins the wager wave that has proliferated in the U.S. in recent years. bit.ly/3w5dh3C The new initiative, enabled by gamification services company Lucra Sports, will let D&B loyalty customers over the age of 18 place bets on a number of arcade games through its app. Lucra’s chief operating officer Michael Madding told Fortune that the company’s technology enables small bets of $5 and $10 and offers double or nothing and rematches. Madding declined to confirm a release date for the feature, but he added that Lucra’s technology can be integrated in just a couple of weeks. “This is about small dollars and playing with your friends and hopefully having a little skin in the game and making that game of basketball or darts a little bit more interesting,” Madding said.

The Dave & Busters/Arcade Betting story this week is a textbook fantastic example of customer-focused B2B PR. The story isn't really about Dave & Busters, it's about Lucra Sports - the backend tech empowering the arcade betting. It's an absolute elite example of how you make the customer the hero in b2b story. As a comms guy, this is just so well done and I geek out when others do great work like this. If you ever wanted an example of "well why do I need PR and comms at all?" - this is why. Forget the policy issues on p2p betting (they knew them going in), from a story perspective - the story outpaces that. Congrats to the Lucra comms team on this one. Get ready for some friendly competition at Dave and Buster’s! The restaurant and arcade chain will soon offer wagering on its games-from Hot Shots basketball to Skeeball to the arcade. (You must be 18+). It’s all part of an effort to make kids bday parties there more bearable. (Kidding). Dave and Buster’s is hoping it means stronger engagement, and people spent more time and money there. The gamification software comes from a company called Lucra Sports.
