We partnered with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach to provide continuing education credits for our refugee childcare providers! Check out what they wrote about us in their newsletter:  "We have fostered a partnership with Lutheran Services of Iowa (LSI) and their childcare provider classes. LSI has a wonderful program that helps former refugees get trained to become childcare providers and start their own business. One educator, Star Scott, has now taught multiple groups of childcare providers. Recently, she had a large group of childcare providers that came from multiple countries and cultures. In this class, she worked with multiple interpreters and utilized visual recipes so that all can follow along regardless of their English skills. When introducing skillet lasagna, they were hesitant at first because it was not a normal dish in their culture. After trying it, they enjoyed it and are excited to try cooking it at home for their family and childcare kids! Our nutrition classes are able to provide up to 16 continuing education credits to childcare providers to help them stay certified. On the last day of the series, one participant said, "I learned a lot and will tell my friends about all the things I learned to build my body!" Thank you to Lutheran Services of Iowa for providing multiple interpreters for nutrition classes!"   We are proud to partner with great organizations like ISU Extension and Outreach to continuously serve Iowans.
