The alarming rise in book bans is a direct attack on our freedom to access diverse stories, especially those from Latino voices. In 2023 alone, there was a shocking 92% increase in book ban cases threatening to silence narratives that are vital to diversity. Latino literature is already underrepresented, and with Latino books consistently under attack, our stories are being removed from the narrative. This isn't just about books—it's about whose voices get to be heard. https://lnkd.in/dPhU9iTn

The "old money" vs. "new money" narrative isn't just a wealth comparison—it's a reflection of deep-seated racial inequalities. But why do these terms matter? Because they uphold a system built on racial exclusion. Most "old money" families are white, benefiting from historical advantages. Meanwhile, "new money"—often associated with people of color—is somehow “unrefined” and less prestigious. https://lnkd.in/dhpb34UN

Yesterday was #NationalLatinaDay, and today we’re still celebrating the unstoppable spirit of Latinas everywhere! 🎉💪🏽 But we wouldn't be doing service to the fundamental purpose of the day (to celebrate our contributions and to celebrate each other) without lifting up the woman who started it. Dolores “Loli” Alvarez Castilla started the movement in 2015 with a Facebook page. Explore the origins and significance of this movement and let Loli be a reminder that just one person can most definitely shift culture and empower millions. 🌟 https://lnkd.in/dNVUP8AF

"Toxic gratitude" affects many within the Latino community: keep your head down, stay quiet, and just be thankful. Gratitude is generally a very good thing, but not when it diminishes what is rightfully earned or deserved. https://lnkd.in/dJ5ZDNBp
