As REMEZCLA EIC Thatiana Diaz said in her Advertising Week panel, the conversations should be going on year round but Hispanic Heritage Month is a great time to ✨ turn up the volume ✨
Pero ICYMI, sharing all the spectacular things we collaborated on for HHM at ADWEEK this year:
🤝 We partnered with REMEZCLA for our Voice (op-ed/thought leadership) series, El Mainstream Chat. Talented writers like Sonia Riojas, Daniel Gonzalez, Morris Dávila & Thatiana educated the modern marketer on the Latinx cultural nuances we see embedded in the fabric of everyday American life (ie: beauty, language, creators, etc). Special thanks to Lauren Hornsby & the Powell Communications squad for facilitating this big feat.
🏀 Jason Notte came through on the sports marketing front with his coverage of Los Chicago Bulls' newly launched IG channel. He also spoke to Latinos in Sports and Nielsen about their study on Hispanic and Latino fandom across five major American sports leagues—MLB, MLS, NFL, NBA, and NHL.
💼 We stan Jefas in advertising. In one of our last YTPAA eps, Rebecca & I got to chat with PepsiCo's Esperanza Teasdale and BODEN Agency's Natalie Boden about the history of the Jefa program created by PepsiCo‘s “Juntos Crecemos” initiative to support Latina-owned businesses in the US.
📈 Spoiler alert: today's young Latinos are not like past generations. Paul Hiebert reported on the findings in a new report from Latino Donor Collaborative and Kantar and how brands can take advantage of the opportunity to connect with this growing cohort.
📺 TVNewser editor Ethan Alter gave us a network-by-network viewing guide (CNN, ABC News, etc) for HHM coverage, in addition to sitting down with NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises anchor Julio Vaqueiro to discuss its Decision 2024 voting initiative. Saleah Blancaflor blessed us with coverage on the beloved actors/friends duo Diego Luna & Gael García Bernal as they reunite in Hulu's first Spanish language-produced original series, La Máquina.
☕ Colin Daniels, M.A. got to chop it up with reggaeton artist Lunay to chat about his second year partnering with McDonald's McCafé At Home campaign.
💸 Is your credit score guaca-malo or guaca-ready? I am always in awe of mitú and Suma Wealth founder Beatriz Acevedo, but especially after talking to her for her feature about her rebranding of finance for the Latinx community through Suma.
💪 We wrapped HHM with a bang by chatting with Peloton Interactive superstar and The New York Times bestselling author Robin Arzón to talk women's sports, Swagger Society, and the importance of speaking Spanish to her kids.
