In 2021, with the ebook and ebook marketplace challenges in full view, Lyrasis started The Palace Project, in partnership with DPLA and a generous grant from the Knight Foundation. Later that same year, Lyrasis acquired BiblioLabs and its community engagement platform and services. The synergy of services, technologies and solutions for the two groups’ library communities came together a little over a year ago with the formal creation of the Ebooks and Community Engagement division — a team focused on providing libraries with solutions and alternatives in this space via a multifaceted approach to ebooks and econtent. Affected by Hurricane Helene? Please let us know how we can help. Here are two organizations who can also help: *National Heritage Responders is a highly skilled team of conservators and other collections care professionals with expertise in emergency response; call 1-202-661-8068. NHR members are available to provide advice to individuals as well as advice and on-site response to institutions. (NHR members do not normally provide on-site assistance to individuals, although it may be possible to do so in conjunction with other collections in an affected region.) All assistance provided by the NHR is free. Less urgent questions can also be answered by emailing info@conservation-us.org. *NEDCC Collections Emergency Hotline provides 24/7 phone disaster assistance for institutions or individuals with damaged photographic materials; call 1-855-245-8303. General questions about photographs can be directed to Ask NEDCC at (978) 470-1010 or info@nedcc.org.

Our hearts and thoughts are with the communities affected by the hurricane. We have worked with so many community hubs in the impacted regions and understand how vital these regional institutions are for providing critical access to knowledge to their communities. We want to offer our help and expertise. For libraries, archives, and museums affected by Hurricane Helene, please reach out. You do not have to be a Lyrasis member. We have a ready list of organizations who prioritize how they can assist with relief efforts and offer advice on keeping collections safe or how to handle them after they have been recovered. Affected organizations can contact us for assistance at 614-439-1796 or email, tom.clareson@lyrasis.org. Please contact us also if you need any assistance with your Lyrasis services. We are here to support you and let us know how we can help you reopen, rebuild, and continue to serve your communities. Contact us at membersupport@lyrasis.org.
