About us
As the state’s lead economic development agency, the Alabama Department of Commerce works with its allies to fulfill the objectives of Accelerate Alabama, the state’s strategic economic development growth plan. Our project managers recruit world-class companies to the state and help existing businesses grow. In this capacity, we have helped advance the growth plans of companies such as Airbus, Boeing, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Hyundai, Toyota, Google, Remington and Polaris. Commerce also promotes exporting and international investment opportunities for Alabama businesses, assists small businesses, and positions the state as a location for film and television productions. Commerce is home to the state’s primary non-education workforce development programs, including AIDT, a nationally known job-training agency.
