DAMMI, the new short film starring Oscar winner Riz Ahmed, directed by Yaan Demange of Lovecraft Country, with music supervision by MADPLANET has released on Mubi! Yaan and I had previously collaborated on Top Boy, '71, and White Boy Rick. "DAMMI is an enigmatic odyssey of identity and belonging that navigates us through the cobbled streets, boulevards and bustling bars of a surreal Parisian dreamscape. Poetically walking the line between abstract cinema and documentary, the subject matter is particularly resonant for Yann who left Paris aged two, creating a distance between himself, his father (who appears in the film) and his Algerian heritage. The short premiered at the 2023 Locarno Film Festival and had its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival."
