Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) reported that close to 1 in 3 adolescents in the U.S. received mental health treatment in 2023. This equates to approximately 8.3 million adolescents, aged 12 to 17, receiving some form of treatment last year alone, including counseling, medication, or other interventions. Increasing accessibility and reducing stigma is crucial for the well-being of our youth, and this study signals a positive trend towards normalizing mental health treatment. Next, we must look into quality of care and the outcomes of treatment on the mental health of our children, youth and young adults.
