There’s a reason Halloween is our favorite holiday here at Make-A-Wish Metro and Western New York. Just like a wish, Halloween allows a child to ask, “If I could be anyone for a day, who would I be?” For a child with a critical illness, they’re often told what they can’t do, where they can’t go, and who they can’t see. Opening up a child’s imagination to choose a wish isn’t just fun—it’s life-changing for their mental health! 💙🎃 Happy Halloween! To read more about our scary-good impact, visit wish.org/impact-study.

Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
About us
People like you help Make-A-Wish® bring lasting, positive change into the lives of critically-ill kids. Your support makes it possible for us to grant their wishes, giving them a reason to stay strong through often difficult treatments and to believe in the promise of a better future. You give them hope and the strength to fight. Though we grant a wish every 35 minutes in the United States, we need to grant a wish every 18 minutes to serve every eligible child. Every single person who supports us by donating, volunteering or referring a child can be part of our mission. Find out more at metrony.wish.org. or wny.wish.org Why Make-A-Wish? Because wishes are more than just a nice thing. They are far more than gifts or singular moments in time. Wishes transform lives and make life better for children and their families. It's a simple but powerful belief that drives every single thing we do.

As New Yorkers, we were thrilled to host a wish child at our very own Yankee Stadium and to see other wish kids' dreams come true with the help of Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles during this year's World Series! ⚾💫 Thank you to Major League Baseball (MLB), New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Fanatics for making these wishes possible. No matter which team they were rooting for, we know these wishes created unforgettable memories for kids with critical illnesses.
This year, Make-A-Wish will have seven incredible wish families attend the World Series, turning dreams into reality for kids battling critical illnesses. 🏟️⚾️ These wishes are more than just a moment of joy; they provide the emotional and physical strength these brave kids need to keep fighting. Since 2000, Major League Baseball (MLB) has granted more than 100 wishes for kids to attend the MLB All-Star Game and World Series, proving the enduring power of hope and community support. Seeing their faces light up as they experience the magic of the World Series is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together. A huge shoutout to Kevin Moss, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the New York Yankees, Fanatics, and all the fans who make these wishes possible. Together, we're giving these kids a chance to be kids and witness their heroes play baseball at the highest level. 💙🌟 Make-A-Wish America | Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles | Make-A-Wish Metro New York and Western New York | Leslie Motter | Jared Perry | Melissa Arias | Flo Bryan | Frances Hall | Deirdre Cienki | Lani Hana | Shaina Reeser | Camille Horn | Tom Caillouette

We’re so thankful for the longtime dedication of Larry and our Buffalo Radiothon partners at News 4 WIVB Buffalo and 97 Rock. They share the voices of local wish families, volunteers, and medical providers who have seen the power of a wish first-hand. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to raise awareness and funds for our mission! Check out Larry's interview below, where he talks about helping to create the very first Buffalo Radiothon, and how it has changed his outlook. https://bit.ly/4fl4OdA

We had a wonderful Halloween-themed Family Day at Wafra in partnership with Make-A-Wish Metro New York and Western New York. Our team members and their children, dressed in costumes, enjoyed trick-or-treating around the office and decorating postcards and stars for children awaiting their wishes through the Make-A-Wish program. A heartfelt thank you to the Make-A-Wish team for allowing us and our children to bring joy to those bravely facing critical illnesses! #WafraGivesBack #TeamWafra #MakeAWish #CSR

🌟 From pitch to partnership, the Fanatics and Make-A-Wish America game-changing collaboration launched today! 🌟 Through this groundbreaking partnership, Fanatics has committed a staggering $10 million to support all sports wishes, opening up a world of possibilities for children facing critical illnesses. We firmly believe that the power of sports can inspire hope, resilience, and happiness, and we are committed to making dreams a reality for these brave wish kids. To mark this momentous occasion, we were able to grant nine wishes featuring none other than legendary athletes Tom Brady, Aaron Judge, and Jayson Tatum! Their passion for the game, dedication to making a difference, and their unwavering commitment to philanthropy made them the perfect ambassadors for this initiative. We extend our deepest gratitude to the incredible team at Fanatics for their unwavering support and to Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida for elevating this opportunity for the Make-A-Wish enterprise. 💙 Orlando Ashford Sr | Grace Farraj | Christina Upchurch | Lauren (Graziano) Gallo | Saj Cherian | Meier Raivich | Brandon Williams | Adam Lock | Todd Bradley | Leslie Motter | Jared Perry | Flo Bryan | Shaina Reeser | Tom Caillouette | Sioban Kerr | Camille Horn | Jamie Sandys | Fernanda Horvath | Anne Cuba | Jaclyn Barnett | Make-A-Wish Metro New York and Western New York | Make-A-Wish New Jersey | Make-A-Wish® Massachusetts and Rhode Island

Today marks the end of #HispanicHeritageMonth, but our commitment to diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusion does not end here. At Make-A-Wish Metro and Western New York, we launched Las Estrellas, a new Spanish-speaking volunteer group that will work specifically to grant wishes for Spanish-speaking wish families and recruit more Spanish speaking volunteers. 🚀 With 17% of our wish kids coming from a Spanish-speaking household, Las Estrellas is helping us create an equitable and accessible wish experience, bringing us closer to our mission of granting wishes for EVERY eligible child with a critical illness in New York. Interested in making a difference and joining Las Estrellas? Contact Valerie Nolasco at vnolasco@metrony.wish.org to learn more! 🌟
