It's always a pleasure to visit past projects and see them looking so fabulous. We were delighted to sponsor and attend the incredible evening at CoreNet Global - Southern California Chapter fireside Chat with Riz Walker and Carol J. Hamilton. These two are such a lovely example of an amazing Designer / Client relationship. Even though Riz was only at Blitz for the very early phase of the L'Oreal project her instantaneous love affair with Carol has persisted and she even went on to decorate Carol's West Coast apartment. We were thrilled when she was able to come back at the end of this project and provide the final layer of tchotchke décor. Great projects are always made by great relationships. In that spirit we would be remiss to not mention our dear friends  two*MadeByPair, and WOODTECH INC who furnished this project for us.

As we reflect on the past 15 years at Blitz, one word comes to mind: gratitude. We are profoundly grateful for the incredible people who have been part of this journey. Over the years, we've been fortunate to have some truly exceptional talents join our firm—many of whom are still with us after 8, 9, or even 10 years. It is deeply humbling that these wonderful individuals have chosen to spend part of their careers at Blitz. We are thankful for those who helped build the firm into what it is today and for those who continue to shape its future alongside us. When thinking about how best to represent the past 15 years, we begin with our people, because without our amazing crew, there would be no projects, and there would be no Blitz. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to our inspiring Clients. Thank you for trusting us with your dreams, your business, and your investments. We've had the privilege of collaborating with some of the most brilliant minds of this era of innovation and invention. It has been humbling to learn from you, be inspired by you, and create for you. Thank you. While we may not be shutting down an alley and partying until the early hours of the morning to celebrate as we did for our 10th Blitziversary, we instead take this quiet moment to reflect on the past decade and a half and express our gratitude to those who made the dining room dream we had all those years ago come true. Thank you.

Offering a fresh take on the evolution of workplace design, I had the privilege of interviewing five leading architects on their inspired approach to creating exciting workspaces. In Architectural Products' latest issue, read about: ☞ Blitz's mood-based design strategy ☞ Gensler's latest research-based workspace categories ☞ HOK's replacing a metric-based approach to space allocation with data-driven sets of customized designs ☞ ODA - architecture's rebranding of the office as we known it and ☞ HWKN Architecture's application of AI-generated sketches. Thank you Melissa Hanley, AIA IIDA ASID, Janet Pogue McLaurin, FAIA, FIIDA, Steven Burgos, Matthias Hollwich and Eran Chen for helping us deliver a comprehensive digest of where the workplace is heading. #workplacedesign #officeinteriors #architecture

It's totally cliché to say 'earth day is every day' but we've been championing sustainable design since our founding 15 years ago. Whether it be our specs which have never allowed VOCs, going vinyl free as a firm at the beginning of 2023 or this epic project for L'Oréal which received both LEED and WELL Platinum certification we're here to mitigate the impact of the built environment on climate change.

Reflecting on April & Earth Month, we wanted to take a moment to recognize L'Oreal's collective efforts and successes in the world of #sustainability. 🌎 L'Oreal West became the first facility in the zone to achieve LEED Platinum and WELL certification. 🔋 Our new R&I Campus boasts an on-site solar array that covers 60% of its energy usage. 💫 Through the Inclusive Sourcing program, North America supported the employment of 5,346 beneficiaries coming from underrepresented communities. 🍃 We reduced product waste by improving launch efficiency, reducing returns, and donating over 12 million units of finished goods. 🚚 We improved transportation emissions with a 38% reduction in airfreight emissions compared to 2022. ♻️ We scaled our Amazon Climate Pledge Friendly badging through Cradle to Cradle certifications and now have badging on 600+ products. 💧 For the 8th year in a row, L'Oreal Groupe received a 'AAA' rating, the highest rating, from the CDP on our sustainability commitments to water, forest, and fighting climate Change. L'Oreal is the only company to receive this AAA rating for 8 straight years. There is still so much work ahead of us. Our commitment to lead responsible beauty has never been stronger. Wow! A 25% increase in utilization after a few thoughtful, light touch interventions? That's a pretty amazing ROI. We loved being a part of this project with the awesome team at Okta and we really love working with brilliant orgs that invest in workplace research to improve their employee's experience in the office. The proof that good design can solve real workplace problems is in the data!

Sustainability & Strategy @ Okta | LEED AP

In November of 2023 we created a future of work prototype floor at Okta SFHQ! Mitch, Ann and I spent countless hours collaborating closely with our Workforce Identity Cloud and Customer Identity Cloud teams to understand why they come into the SF office & how the workplace could enable them to do their best work. As a result, we removed the sea of white desks and replaced them with multiple settings for both individual and collaborative work. We updated conference rooms to have flexible furniture and the latest collaboration technology. Lastly, we brought in a plethora of plants and new graphics into the space to emulate the beautiful Northern California landscape. Over the past 6 months we’ve seen an increase in utilization by these teams of ~25% despite no required in office time! Here are some lessons we’ve learned: 😄 Engaging employees early on leads to them being invested in the space! 🛬 Many people who thought they needed a desk just needed a place to land between meetings co-located with their team. This is where our library tables come into play. 🤝 Open collaboration spaces are underutilized because people feel they will bother those working at nearby desks. By shifting collaboration spaces to be acoustically enclosed with flexible furniture, we’ve seen higher utilization.  🖌 Digital isn’t always better. We’ve employed the Steelcase flex rail whiteboard systems so people can easily move whiteboards between desks and meeting spaces or hold them in front of zoom cameras for those quick drawings.  🏢 Co-location enables cross functional work! Vertical campuses can struggle with cohesion so collocating the right teams on the right floors can be key to enabling their cross functional success.  🌳 People feel more alive surrounded by plants! We've gotten incredible feedback on the plethora of plants throughout the space. We look forward to continuing to support our employees with the best workspaces to fit their needs. Thank you to the incredible team of partners that helped us deliver the space Johnny Lemoine for his incredible graphics, NOVO Construction, Inc., Ann Bamesberger, One Workplace, Angela Thomas, Derek Ramsey, Melissa Hanley, Michael DiMonaco, and our wonderful Okta team Kara Zaninovich, Lexie Yacoel Gotcher, Mitch Brodnansky, Melissa Myers,
