Thank you to Zygo for hosting the latest career field trip from Making Waves Academy! High school seniors toured this global optical and metrology solutions company, which is just a short walk from Making Waves. 💭 "This experience was definitely one of a kind. It allows students to gain insight and see STEM careers in action. I’m very excited that we’ll have a chance to go back later on in the year for some hands-on activities!" - Lizette Cardenas 💭 "I had a very pleasant experience on the Zygo field trip. I felt very comfortable despite the intimidation of the large machinery and everything was very well explained. And I would love to come back to engage in hands-on activities and pursue my knowledge in the optics field." - Guillermo Limon Is your company interested in hosting a field trip? About us
At Making Waves, we are committed to educational equity. Making Waves Education Foundation is a Bay Area nonprofit that supports Making Waves Academy – a public charter school with more than 1,100 5th through 12th grade students – and leads college and career programming with more than 500 college students. Knowing the opportunities that come with a college degree, we partner with historically underrepresented and underserved students to help make college affordable and graduation attainable. Centering the journeys of our students, our personalized approach includes college and career coaching, scholarships, and financial planning. Our alumni network includes more than 600 college graduates, who earn their degrees and land jobs at more than twice the rate of their first-generation, low-income peers, with 84% graduating debt-free.
