📌 UBT (Umbria Bioengineering Technologies company) was founded in 2015 and is a biomedical company which develops and commercializes a portfolio of innovative medical devices based on cutting-edge safe microwaves technology. UBT has so far developed the 3 patented products, including MammoWave, the device under investigation in MammoScreen. 🔎 In the framework of the project, UBT will oversee the manufacturing and distribution of MammoWave, of contributing to the clinical protocol and of data and ethics advisory board appointment. 📌 Fondazione Toscana Life Sciences (TLS) is a non-profit organization based in Siena, Italy, that has been operating since 2005 with the aim of supporting research activities in the field of life sciences and fostering the development of projects from basic research to industrial application. 🔎 In the framework of MammoScreen, as coordinator of the project, TLS will oversee project management and coordination, ethical and data related aspects, dissemination and communication, business development strategies, IPR management, and market access strategies. 📚 MammoWave® is an innovative and highly disruptive microwave technology, patented and developed by the project partner UBT Srl. 🔎 It employs an innovative technique which generates images by processing very low power electromagnetic signals in the microwave band. 📊 As stated by the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer among the female population worldwide, affecting one in eight women (12,5%). 🔎 Breast cancer is a malignant tumour that develops from cells in the breast. It usually begins either in the cells of the lobules (the milk-producing glands) or in the ducts that drain the milk from the lobules to the nipple.
