About us

Manatee County Government has made quality customer service to you, our customers – Manatee residents, business owners and visitors – our top priority. The Bradenton area was recently named Florida’s “most satisfying” place to live. We couldn’t agree more. Our quality of life is second to none. We’d like to think part of that satisfaction is thanks to the friendly, customer service-driven government we’ve created at Manatee County. We live here. We work here. We’re your neighbors. We appreciate the honor and privilege to serve this great community! Manatee County is located on Florida’s gorgeous Gulf Coast. It is bordered by Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg to the north, Hardee and DeSoto counties to the east and Sarasota to the south. The beautiful beaches of Anna Maria Island fade into the Gulf of Mexico to the west. The County seat and the largest municipality in Manatee County is Bradenton. Manatee County has five other municipalities, including the City of Anna Maria, Bradenton Beach, Holmes Beach, the Town of Longboat Key and Palmetto. More than 400,000 people call Manatee County home, but our population increases considerably in the winter when high temperatures vary between 65 and 75 degrees. Many northerners, affectionately known as Snow Birds, have second homes or rent a winter home here. Our county employees are key to delivering services to all our residents including our seniors, children, families and those just starting out. From the Libraries to Forest Preserves, Beaches to Neighborhoods, new developments to individual residences, the services we provide touch everyone in the community in a positive way. As a county employee, you contribute toward that effort.

Updates

  • Thank you to all the media and community stakeholders who attended our press conference on Friday at Manatee Public Beach, where we discussed the fast-track timeline to reopen all Manatee County Beaches while still allowing for the significant ongoing repair and recovery work. County officials detailed improvement efforts, including pro-active sand-sifting operations, designed to help beach communities and residents recover more quickly. Manatee County Public Beach has reopened, and both Coquina and Bradenton Beach are following very aggressive timelines for reopening. • There is a lot of work orchestrated by Kate Quilty, Water Plant Superintendent (hired August 2017), to ensure your water is the best in Florida. This hard work and Quilty’s character―listing accommodating, inspiring, caring and respectful―was what Senior Project Engineer Albert Rosenstein cited on the nomination form which led to Quilty being chosen as the October Employee of the Month. Recognized at today’s Board of County Commissioners’ meeting, Quilty stated, “This recognition truly reflects the hard work and dedication of each of the dedicated work of the water division standing behind me. They have contributed unique skills, commitment solutions and passion. It’s their dedication that drives our success. Being a part of such a remarkable team is a privilege. Let’s continue to work together to inspire one another and tackle the challenges ahead with confidence.”

  • After every storm event, Manatee County conducts a series of assessments to facilitate recovery efforts and ensure community safety. To streamline and expedite the process, residents are encouraged to allow County staff, State agencies or FDEM representatives to inspect any damaged buildings. These individuals will be wearing visible local, State or Federal badges, as well as AC Disaster Consulting vests, in order to distinguish them from scammers. You may see these individuals walking around your neighborhood, asking questions about hurricane-related structural damage or taking pictures of damaged structures, which is needed to help with our recovery process.
