Last week I received two #surveys and both were sent with the 5-star review pre-checked. Unfortunately, both companies completely missed the mark. Here’s why. Both were sent to me AFTER I returned their product, unsubscribed from their emails, and had already received a refund. This begs so many questions about their internal #marketingstack and inefficient operations. If you want to learn from your customers, here’s what you should do instead: 1️⃣ Cross-reference returns and opt-outs with your automatic survey sending software so that you don’t embarrass yourself and send these to customers who you know aren’t happy with your product. 2️⃣ Send surveys without pre-checking any rating to get more honest reviews. 3️⃣ Have an open dialog box as the final survey question to ask if there’s anything your customers would like to tell you. Maybe it’s a suggestion to offer the shoe in another color, or that the skin care caused an allergic reaction. Whatever it is – if someone wants to communicate with you outside of your formulaic questions, you should allow for that. #missiondriven #marketingconsulting #businessasaforceforgood #consumersurveys

In our excitement to begin new projects, we can overlook an important aspect of a new client relationship - onboarding. Over the years, I've learned that having a successful onboarding process is helpful in establishing a great foundation, especially for solopreneurs who are often juggling many balls at once. This past week, I registered on two platforms and witnessed the difference that great onboarding has. I'm more engaged on that platform that touched base with a "How can we help you be successful?" and responded with a personalized answer. The saying "𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯" is always top of mind when I begin a new client project.
