Thinking back on the NGS/QSR Evolution/Pizza Power conference in Atlanta last week, where I got to hang with some clients, see friends old & new, & get perspectives from across the industry. Highlights included: Dinner with the COJE Management Group team at Warhorse Investments. From a panel on AI: ‘The computer always wins. It’s not an if, it’s a when. We’re not going to be guessing how much dough to prep or having humans take phone orders.' Aaron Nilsson, Jets Pizza Pretty much everything that came out of Peter Kiley's mouth at the panel on Global Menu Inspiration, but especially this gem: "One if the most important ingredients is storytelling. If someone wants to come up with a new recipe I tell them to write a press release first—you need to be able to sell it." AMEN! Like I said, pretty much everything - although this one I could've done without: "Every time we lose $ I call it a marketing cost. No ROI." Replace "marketing" with "branding" and I'll give it to him but I know we've proven time and again to our clients that marketing done well CAN deliver serious ROI! Panel education, including learning the secret behind Sweet Basil's signature pesto (a dull blade!), the mixology mindfulness that is shared by both jackson cannon & Raymond Tremblay, and being in awe of Christopher P. Jamison's knowledge of lighting. Other things I loved: Ginger Flesher Sonnier, M.Ed. badassness, Melissa Del Savio's savvy brand color selections, catching up with Anthony Valletta, Neil Newcomb and Rakesh Chauhan over wine & sushi in Buckhead. Kudos to Danny Klein, Callie Evergreen and the entire team at QSR & FSR magazines for putting on another great event!
